It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

Matthew McConaughey ,and if it snows I can get him to say it's "All white ,all white ,all white " in that sexy southern drawl .

I would love to find my own personal assistant who can cook, clean, drive me around and just generally organize my life grin?

Delia Smith so it would be a kitchen-free Christmas for me!!

Lots of books would be nice to find under my Christmas tree ?
I’d love to see my Grandad under the tree because we lost him before I had my children and I wish he’d met them ?
Merry Christmas everyone ?

It would be my late dad as he loved Christmas.

I would love to find all five grandchildren under the tree on Christmas morning! They always visit us on Boxing Day but imagine what joy it would be to see all of them individually opening their Santa Sacks!!

I think it would be nice if both sets of our parents could be there. Unfortunately they all passed away before they could see how we all turned out.

Cupid, Aphrodite, and Eros because the world could do with a lot more love right now

NanaPlenty Sun 24-Nov-19 17:57:41

The Dalia Llama, at this time of year it would be lovely to listen to some words of wisdom and kindness to man.

Tidusmc Sun 24-Nov-19 18:27:14

I think it has to be Stephen Fry; he's charming, witty and so bloody clever.

candish65 Sun 24-Nov-19 18:38:34

Ant and Dec , they are a great double act

All I want for Christmas is for my daughter to be with us for Christmas, but it will only be in spirit as she died 16 months ago.

My adult Children who sided with their Dad when I left 5 years ago.

lifetime membership to the top tier of BUPA including dental. I have been waiting for proper treatment from the NHS for more than 20 years, but cot cutting means that as soon a specialist finds I don't have what they've tested for they have to cross me off their list rather than find out what is wrong and waht miht be done about it. Meanwhile basic NHS dentistry does no preventative work and less and less curative, and I face more and more abuse from DWP and the companies it hires to "prove" you are fit for work whatever an actual medical Dr with years of training might say

I've got a very soft spot for Alijaz from Strictly so please can I have him under my tree, complete with his dancing shoes and tail coat and white tie, ready to whisk me round the dance floor (which will magically unroll in front of us) in a glorious quick step? I shall of course be wearing a glamorous dress and heels, with perfect make up and hair-do and weigh 3 stones less than I do currently!

I’d love to find Angel Strawbridge under the family Christmas tree. (I could do with finding her a couple of weeks before the actual day so she would have time to use her special creative magic on my own little chateau..... well, it’s a semi in Lancashire!

SusannaCallaghan Sun 24-Nov-19 21:29:35

My sister. She's the other side of the world and we haven't been able to see each other in person for 14 years. I'd just love to give her a hug.

alem2018 Sun 24-Nov-19 22:35:54

Stephen Fry for some witty conversation

Nanna58 Sun 24-Nov-19 22:44:40

As the prize is books it made me think I’d like to find Chaucer under my tree. I hated having to read him aloud at school, so I’d make him read his own works and say “ Ha! Not so darn easy , is it??! “

luweebayyy Sun 24-Nov-19 22:50:29

I'd love to find McFly under my tree!!! Playing a special chrismas show just for me!!

susie14 Sun 24-Nov-19 23:14:04

I'd like to find some sparkling jewellery under the tree as I lost a lovely necklace earlier in the year and the replacement just isn't the same.

MeadowEdge Sun 24-Nov-19 23:49:16

I'd like to find David Attenborough under my tree so he can tell me all the fascinating adventures of his life x
