It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

My maternal grandmother Alice. She died when my mum was 10. I would love to get to know her.

I'd love to find the actor Tom Hiddleston under my tree. Hope he would read aloud to me (swoon) while I'm cooking Christmas dinner, plus I know he loves a good cuppa and a slice of cake just like I do!

My grandfather, he told the most fascinating true stories and left this world when I wasn't looking.

Bookbug Wed 04-Dec-19 20:14:29

The very talented Frank Sinatra - so that we could all enjoy a Christmas day serenade!?

FoxInABox Wed 04-Dec-19 20:20:18

My late brother in law, if I could give him to my sister as her Christmas present. She is struggling greatly and I would love to be able to do the one thing that I can’t do- bring him back for her.
Celebrity wise it would have to be Channing Tatum. For obvious reasons. blush

My grandmother. I’m in a proper mess and her no nonsense approach to life would be exactly what I, and the DC, need this Christmas.

I’d like to find the cast of Still Game under my tree to make the festivities extra fun. grin

I'd like to find my mum of 10 years ago under the tree, when she was still completely herself and we could talk for hours, so funny and sharp as a tack, interested in everything and caring. She's still with us but we have lost so much of her already. A day with my old mum again would be wonderful.

samben Wed 04-Dec-19 20:46:36

My great grandfather. Having taken an interest in my family tree, there are so many questions that I should love to ask him.

kimcoate27 Wed 04-Dec-19 20:51:24

I’d like to find George Michael under my tree so he could sing lovely carols to us

BookShop Wed 04-Dec-19 20:59:22

I wouldn’t want to find anyone under the tree. Christmas Day is stressful enough without having to accommodate my favourite writer! Can they not just pop round at another less hectic time?!

suepoorta Wed 04-Dec-19 21:00:59

My lovely wife

DS64till Wed 04-Dec-19 21:02:59

I’d love to find a fairy with a magic wand that would sprinkle some fairy dust and make the life of everyone a bit better in whatever form is needed. In the meantime I’m going to snuggle up and get lost in a book or two

Kerenza Wed 04-Dec-19 21:38:59

It would have to be my Mother, who sadly is no longer with us. Imagine her delight in meeting her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who would love her as much as I do!

duju Wed 04-Dec-19 21:43:10

I’d be stoked to find a water distiller that can provide enough water to not just drink, but to bathe in too.
I’m so into improving my health, & I’d love too, to be able to help others with health issues. I know this seems like a dull request, but it’d be used all the time & it would do so much good. If you’d like to know more about the benefits of distilled water, Google Andrew Norton Webber.
Good luck to all who make their Christmas wishes & with love & luck, may they come true... Christmas IS, or should be a time for love & peace in our families & in the world & in our hearts. ???

I would love to find David Walliams under my Christmas tree - he seems like such a funny man and would keep the children entertained reading stories whilst I prepare Christmas dinner
