It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

My nan, who we lost New years eve 2017. She never got to meet her youngest two great grandchildren and she always enjoyed her time with family

daisybeebee Tue 19-Nov-19 06:33:26

I'd love to find my father, this will be our third Christmas without him and I miss him so much as he loved Christmas and was always the life and soul of the party. I treasure the happy memories.

I would like to see Elvis under my tree and him sing white Christmas to me

Mazamet07 Tue 19-Nov-19 07:06:20

My 14 month old grandson. His toothy beaming smile and his endless energy and curiosity, combined with his determination to enjoy every moment.... now that would really make my Christmas special.

GranEd Tue 19-Nov-19 07:44:56

Mary Berry - to help with the cooking!

MamaCaz Tue 19-Nov-19 07:54:28

I've just realized that I mistakenly read 'what' instead of 'who', so I'll try again:

Definitely my Dad.
He's only appeared in my dreams three times since he died two years ago, but those dreams made me so happy.
To find him under the Christmas tree would be a dream come true.
His calmness, his humour, his love of life and thirst for knowledge - what more could I wish for?

I would love to find a Magic Wand under the Christmas Tree with a winning Lotto ticket wrapped around it. That way I could grant many wishes - and book myself and OH on a round-the-world trip and head to Australia for starters.

Grannyknot Tue 19-Nov-19 07:59:10

Oops I also read "What" so for "Who", I would like to find my husband holding that Magic Wand with the winning Lotto ticket wrapped around it!

I would love to have my great Uncle Tom under the Christmas tree. It's only in the past few years that I have learned about the amazing life he had and I would so much like to hear more about it. He died 45 years ago when I had little interest in family history- if only I'd been wiser back then!

loopylou Tue 19-Nov-19 09:13:05

Oops! * Great Uncle Tom

Mythbirtthedragon Tue 19-Nov-19 09:15:06

Delia Smith so she could cook the Christmas dinner and have it ready on time for once. I’d be quite happy to peel the potatoes for her.

Maggiemaybe Tue 19-Nov-19 09:41:19

Three Marys, please.

Berry and Poppins, to sort out the feast and the over-excited grandsons.

And a Mary Christmas for one and all!

happysouls Tue 19-Nov-19 09:43:07

I'd like to see the best handyman ever...one who really knows what he is doing...he could sort out the damp problem, the leaky windows, the crumbling ceilings and the electrics...for a start! Then maybe I'd make him some Christmas dinner.

I’d love to see my mum under the Christmas tree, to bring her up to date with my ever growing family, she never got to see her six great grandchildren, how she would have loved each and everyone, we could chat and exchange stories, telling my mum just how much I miss her each and every day. Lots of hugs and cuddles something we didn’t do very often , I would never want to let her go.

grandMattie Tue 19-Nov-19 09:52:59

I never met my paternal grandfather who died 20 or more years before I was born. I would love to talk to him and make my own opinion of my grandpere Ralph. The family gave very conflicting views or vague because it was so long ago.

henetha Tue 19-Nov-19 10:05:00

Definitely Chris Packham for me. He's quite independant so would be off again after a few days. Not sure I could have anyone living with me full time now, so he'd be ideal.
But I would love his company for a few days at a time,
listening to all his adventures with nature and his ideas for improving the world.
And if he could just re-cement the front steps for me that would be a bonus.

Bobbysgirl19 Tue 19-Nov-19 10:13:01

Would love to have an extra guest.
But want no other but the best!
I'd choose my Mum, she'd be my choice
To visit me and see my tree.

glammanana Tue 19-Nov-19 10:18:10

Ken Follet and a selection of all the books he has ever written,I would spend the winter months curled up reading them all.

cookiemonster66 Tue 19-Nov-19 10:47:36

my recently deceased daughter, as it does not feel like Christmas without your children

Red69 Tue 19-Nov-19 10:48:03

Beth Kempton because Xmas can be so hectic in the little time we have to spend with family and friends" it comes and goes so quickly!!

yourgrace123 Tue 19-Nov-19 10:49:34

One False Move sounds intriguing

otherwiseknownasGrandma Tue 19-Nov-19 10:51:08

I'd love to see my late parents and introduce them to their great-granddaughter. They'd be so proud!

nettyandmasey Tue 19-Nov-19 10:54:39

I would love to find my dad and my nanny, for the chance to spend even a few minutes with them would be unbelievable. She would come and stay for a couple of weeks at Christmas and I would cry when she went home. My dad loves Christmas for him to me his Great Grandchildren would be amazing. I always wanted to have the same relationship with my grandchildren that I did with my nanny and I think and hope I have.

pandahugs Tue 19-Nov-19 11:15:54

SusieWilkinson Tue 19-Nov-19 11:25:22

I'd love to find my Mum under the Christmas tree this year, she died 9 years ago, and there was so much left unsaid.
