Told the kids when they were little that the ice cream van played the music to let you know they had run out of ice cream. Worked for a little while
My mum bought me a pair of comfortable but unstylish shoes of the type that she wears. I'm middle aged but would never buy such shoes . I told her I liked them but never wore them.
I lied when I was knitted a tank top in all different colours and was told to wear it so I un picked some of it because it was really horrible and I was not going out with that on to a restaurant. I thought I looked like a clown with feet to match.
@NatashaGransnet hi, can you tell me is your book available in `Audio Format`? I am blind and so, therefore, must use the computer with the aid of specialised audible software I once took one of my `Glass Eyes` out and put it in a plastic box in my pocket, I then announced at a party that I thought I had dropped it in the `Punch Bowl` at a party.
The result - No one drank any more punch - more for me lol
The most recent was when my mum answered my WhatsApp video call in the bathroom and about to get dressed, and only realized her mistake when she saw herself on the screen.
I told her that because she was moving, the picture had been too blurred for me to see that she wasn't wearing anything ?
I informed my son that I would turn his room off if he didn’t keep it tidy - and used to head purposefully towards the fuse box when he wasn’t listening to me.
Worked like a charm until he was 15 and they covered ring mains in Science class....
I hope only when it was appropriate to do so without materially deviating from a generally truthful interaction.
Does my bum look big in this??
Course white lie essential there.....don't be silly!!❤️???
When asked if my bum looks big in this
I got this from a friend. When the ice cream van comes round, tell the girls the music is just to let people know that they don't have any ice cream left ? Very handy if trying to keep costs down.
When my husband asks me if I want a Mcdonalds and I already had one for lunch and didnt tell him or offer to get him one.........
I tell far too many working in customer service, lol
Telling my now ex Mother in Law that I loved her cake she’d baked .......I wish I hadn’t as she always made it for me and I had to drink a lot of tea with it as it was drier than cardboard and it was very hard to swallow not to mention it tasted like burnt orange. I accepted the recipe just so I could work out why it was so wrong and then had to realise it was the cooking not the ingredients.
Every time I look in the mirror. I tell myself I am beautiful and can do anything!
I used to tell my children when they heard the ice cream van playing a tune as it was going around our village that it was the fish man. They never asked for ice cream when they heard it. They still laugh when they hear it playing.
Telling my friend that something they made was lovely when it wasn't, I couldn't bring myself to hurt their feelings.
When my son was about five I told him his room was so untidy that he'd have rats in it, I didn't think for one minute he'd believe me, but he tidied up that room pretty quickly! He's 30 now
I don't particularly like lying but I will tell a white lie if I think that I will hurt someone's feelings unnecessarily by telling the truth! After I left a job that I had worked in for a long time and made many friends, I was given a lovely leaving party by my colleagues where they presented me with a beautifully wrapped present. I'm not really one for being the centre of attention so I was really nervous when I had to open my gift in front of everyone. Upon unwrapping the packaging, I was left speechless by the choice of present! It was a ceramic owl, it would have been okay if it was a plain colour or even metallic but it was covered in strange symbols and dots. I looked around thinking that someone would laugh and say "fooled you!" but they didn't, they were deadly serious! I said the usual niceties and told them that it would take pride of place in my living room. As soon as I got home I found a safe place in a cupboard for it and there it has stayed! I actually think that the gift was well intentioned because one of my colleagues commented that they bought it for me because I was such an owl lover.... I'm not! ??
My most memorable white lie was orchestrated on a crisp, frosty Christmas Eve many moons ago when our children were just getting to the age when they began to question the Father Christmas myth.
We did the usual rituals of setting out a mince pie and drink for Father Christmas and putting some carrots and a bowl of water outside for the reindeer. When they were both tucked up in bed and the presents were laid out ready for the big reveal on Christmas morning, we went outside to remove the carrots, tip out some of the water and add some blades of grass to make it look as if the reindeer had been drinking from the bowl. I then had an idea designed to help keep the magic alive. We'd make sleigh tracks on the frosty lawn using two planks of wood.
Sure enough, on Christmas morning, our little white lie was swallowed hook, line and sinker and we could have a magical Christmas for at least one more year.
When I’m trying to spare somebodies feelings I’d tell a little white lie ?
When She looks horrible for her bad day and sickness...I will look at her with loving eyes and tell her hundreds of times that She is the most beautiful princess in the world, till She laughs to tears.
It's an annual ritual, my mother, almost 80yrs, will say" if you get me such and such (for Xmas) (worth buttons,)that will do me."
So when I buy her a nice (expensive) gift I always tell her I got it" for buttons".
It's less that I've told white lies and more that I have omitted to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but! This is mainly to avoid hurting other people's feelings but sometimes to cover up things I have said/done that I am ashamed of!
White lies are actually a kindness, when the truth would - unnecessarily - hurt another person's feelings. My most recent was when a friend of my sister's proudly showed us a photo of her daughter's planned wedding dress. It was quite dreadful, dominated by a huge, glittery butterfly that looked more like a giant moth! Of course, I smiled and said it was lovely; definitely unique!
Telling my twin boys the ice cream van has run out of ice cream (it was just before their dinner was ready !)?
