I don't tell white lies (maybe)

I used to tell my children when the ice cream van played music it meant they were sold out. Awful I know but when they were young it was very rare for us to be able to afford to buy an ice cream.

On holiday in Queenstown, New Zealand, we were marvelling at the brave bungee jumpers. My no-fear-of-anything teenage daughter was desperate to have a go..... I am afraid I told her she was not old enough and would have to return when she was 21. In actual fact, it is dependent on weight, not age and she'd have been eligible..... I still haven't confessed.

I personally don’t like lying but of coarse a little white lie to protect someone’s feelings is something that most of us do at some time. I think the last one I told was to thank someone for some chocolates they had given me saying they were one of my favourites.

I once told my mum I loved a lamp she had bought me as a surprise and had it in my livingroom for 2 years before I dared to buy a new one.

When my best friend (who really likes talking! And should be buying me paracetamol to deal with the headache I get from listening to her!) tried to bake, tried and failed miserably! Now a real friend should be able to be honest right? No! Not with Sarah, she needs constant praise, if I had told her that her cake SUCKED! She would have sulked for a month, so I lied and smiled and ended up with a stomach ache!! Lying to someone with a fragile ego, is a kindness right? I also lied and said that the pasta she "made" (using a jar and precooked pasta isnt cooking) was tasty.. Hello stomach ache my old friend.

The Trifle Incident! blush

Ex DH and I had not been married long, and were both very partial to M&S fresh cream fruit trifles, and would eat a large one each blush.

I had a day off, went shopping and (along with other stuff) bought 2 of them.

Spent some time doing the usual domestic stuff, but the trifle kept calling to me.

I could stand it no more, so ate one of them.

Worried that my sin would be discovered, I removed half of the contents from the kitchen bin, put the carton in, then replaced the rest of the rubbish.

When Ex DH came home, I told him there had only been one in the shop, so made him share it. I was even mean enough to demand that I should have the cherry from the top!

It would be a lie any way so I won't bother

After eating one of my children's Easter eggs and the child in question asking where it was, I said that they must have put it somewhere away from his sister! I did buy a replacement however and magically 'found' it in his wardrobe!!!

Told a little one last week, I defrosted a pavalova, dusted it with icing sugar and told my children I had made it

We tell little lies to be kind. 'How old do you think I look?' somebody asked me. Mentally, I deducted ten years before answering!

Actually, looking back, it doesn't seem particular "white" confused

I've been known to tell the odd lie about my weight or dress size.

My Mother-in-law brought me a skirt, which was really old fashioned and a horrible colour, she thought i would like it and i told her it was lovely, i did have my fingers crossed at the time, but she was thrilled because she was pleased with her puchase, didnt have the heart to tell her i didnt like it

When your best friend asks “do you like my new hair colour/ style?” There’s really only one answer!

nedsplace Mon 20-Apr-20 19:55:28

as my wife's hair colours fades during this isolation period ive eulogised about the silver blond (grey) highlights that the hairdresser must have put onto the roots during the last eye wateringly expensive visit to the hair salon..

When I told my son the onion bhajis had no vegetables in them, he loved them and ate them until he was much older and realised the truth, then refused to eat them again.
