Every time my daughter bought me cute, fluffy, pink things for Mother's Day, you know the tat that shops put up in their 'Seasonal' aisle. I did pluck up the courage when she got to her teens to tell her I can't stand them and they're a waste of money. She took it well and now thinks about what I would want or need instead.

When meeting and greeting when you get asked how you are and you answer 'fine thanks' ... when really you're not!

My mother bought my cousin this decorated ceramic egg in a box for her birthday with a birthday message written on it. I said it was really lovely even though it looked hideous so I wouldn't hurt her feelings. My white lie must have came across as really convincing as guess what she gave me for my 40th birthday. Had to lie again lol.

This morning, when I told my dog that I had no more treats
in my pocket.

I have told usual ones to my children eg Santa etc. When I was a teenager we used to have a key on string I had been out with friend when I reached for key I broke string and dropped key so we went to hers when my parents asked if I had been home I said no .?

Every Christmas day when I get a red jumper from my eldest son & I thank him enthusiastically!
He bought me one about 15 years ago & I obviously went overboard with my thanks as I have had one every year since!!

I think we all tell white lies all the time.
It's not to be awful, it's quite the opposite and we are doing it to spare the feelings of the person we are dealing with.
Whether it’s ‘Dinner is delicious honey’ or ‘Sorry kids, I didn’t have any cash so didn’t get you MORE sweets ?‍♀️'
Not only does it allow us to carry on with our day without adding more stress.

I try not to tell a lie, even a white lie but there are occasions when the truth would be too hurtful. For instance my friend made me some scones and I said how lovely they were, when, in actual fact they were not.

Not only does it allow us to carry on with our day without adding more stress, but also means we aren’t upsetting people who have tried hard to please us by cooking a revolting meal because we’ve been working all day, or who have done a whites wash but left a red sock in by mistake.

Had so many deliveries this week. Had to tell my partner I “won a competition”. Think I got away with it!

When my daughter buys me smelly gifts l haven’t liked for years or skin products just because she doesn’t listen so l’ve given up and just except and smile?

I agree with many of the earlier comments that my white lies usually occur when thanking family and friends for presents that just aren't me. I usually get given lovely presents and am very grateful for what I do receive, but once in a while you just have to suck it up and look happy when you aren't.

When the tooth fairy forgot to visit I told my son she was maybe too busy helping Peter Pan

Constantly, to my kids! Probably when I told them there were no chocolate yogurts left but I knew they would argue over it!

I try not to lie, but would tell a white lie if someone bought me a present and I didn't really like it. I 'd rather tell a small white lie than hurt their feelings.

I hate lies and really dislike liars. I am sure that I do tell little white lies but honestly can't think of one. Oh yeah there was one .....

Told too many to mention, usually to spare someone's feelings,however now that I'm older if someone asks me if I like something,rather than telling a white lie I'll say 'it's not my cup of tea'

Over the years I have told many white lies so as not to hurt peoples feelings. But the one that I remember is being caught by my youngest daughter with my hand under her pillow leaving £1 from the tooth fairy. She asked what I was doing trying to steal her money. I had to tell her the tooth fairy was having a busy night and had asked me to do the tooth collection. She asked me if I was being paid by the tooth fairy.

We were given a clock for Christmas by my in-laws. I hated it, but said it was a very thoughtful present. My husband put it up in the hallway. It stayed there for several years.

All the time, usually do as not to hurt people kind enough to give me a gift and sometimes to boost a Often if a person has been kind enough to give me a present, and sometimes to boost a person's morale if they are unsure about something they are wearing or going to do ( as long as it is not too awful).
