I don't have a partner so don't have to worry about it. smile

TammyChernelle Fri 22-May-20 15:16:05

I don't think I would mind but think it would be a rare occasion although i do think it is important to have your own things/interests

It's all fine by me - I'm happy to sit back and share.

NannaSandy Fri 22-May-20 16:04:21

I hate it he just takes over and makes me feel like I am useless

Ruskin Fri 22-May-20 16:43:21

As long as he isn't better at it than me then it's fine! ;-)

lily60 Fri 22-May-20 17:43:50

Im not bothered he usually tries somethings like it or goes off and does his own thing .. useful he is doing an OU degree so VERY busy :-)

dobijean Fri 22-May-20 20:09:54

I am welcoming him

It doesn't trouble me at all. Me and my partner were both widowed a few years ago, and are in our early sixties. We consider ourselves to have been very lucky to have been given another chance at love and life, and are agreed that everything we have is 'ours'. Actually, if he did but know, what's his is mine and what's mine is my own!??

The running of the kitchen seemed to have fallen into the 'her' category for over 35+years of married life. .

However when in 2016 my DH retired, I said 'I'm handing over kitchen duties to you.'

DH took me at my word and has upto date cooked ( not baked ) virtually every meal.?

The baking and deep kitchen clean still seem to be under my control.
Hey ho.

I'd be shocked! He has entirely different tastes and hobbies to me, and never collaborated with me before.

tracezeus1 Fri 22-May-20 21:30:49

I'd give him a hand if it was something new to him then it would become our thing in future which most things are anyway we love doing chores together

Always let him know he is welcome but I have my own friends so suggest he does the same.

When my partner tries to help with my plants in the gardening it always goes wrong as although meaning to help he waters them at the wrong time of day or over feeds them ?

cazhow Sat 23-May-20 12:40:33

He doesn’t get involved as my stuff is usually something he has no interest in anyway and the stuff we both have an interest in I’m happy to share.

dorothyjk Sat 23-May-20 13:08:04

I'd welcome it- we have such different interests that we do lots of things separately but also enjoy doing things together

Charliechoc Sat 23-May-20 14:34:48

How funny!

My husband was never really interested in cooking but he's suddenly become very interested in barbequing, he's been watching lots of youtube videos and his steak beats a restaurant steak now. Really glad he's taken over with a lot of the cooking, gives me more time to crochet.

angiehoggett Sat 23-May-20 16:47:45

we do alot together so I'd encourage it

angkg Sat 23-May-20 17:47:42

I let him, but we might bicker along the way haha

krog Sat 23-May-20 19:22:59

Keeleklogger Sat 23-May-20 19:58:32

We both have different interests so that’s unlikely to happen

cmht14 Sat 23-May-20 22:13:06

I just love it when he gets involved.
