Percy The Park Keeper - they love it!!!

I love reading to my grandchildren " We are going on a Bear Hunt " by Michael Rosen. This is a such a beautifully written story where adventure is lurking in every corner for family searching for a bear. We love it reading and we can join with our little actions too. The book has a lovely pictures by Helen Oxenbury.

I like Goldilocks & the Three Bears - simply because it was the one my mother often read to me.

My favourite book is The Snow Goose which I loved to read with the children and grandchildren when they were older.

I loved, Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree series as a child in the 1960's, and look forward to reading them to my five year-old Granddaughter when lockdown conditions ease further - might be some time though! I just loved the total fantasy, magical theme of the books with their wonderful characters all living in a tree in woodland - fabulous. My Little Grandson would also love this prize!

I'm looking forward to my grandchild being old enough to enjoy 'The Blue Balloon' which was my son's favourite when he was little. He could recite the whole book as a party piece when he was about 3! Might have to wait a year or two!

I love reading the Very Hungry Catepilllar to my grandson as i read it to my own boys when they were little and it brings back find memories.

We love The Squirrels who Squabbled, it’s beautifully illustrated with a lovely message about sharing and teamwork

The Jolly Postman

We prefer to make up stories, along with voices to go with the characters.

My Grandson, Albie is 2 and he loves reading any pop up and touchy feely story, especially if I pretend something bites me as I touch it.

The Magic faraway Tree still captures the imagination! Asking for another chapter at the end is the sign to me that’s it’s being very much enjoyed!

'Elephant's dont sit on cars' by David Henry Wilson, was the last story I read to my grandchildren. It was one of my favourites to read when I was a school teacher. It is just so funny!! Children love the fact that Jeremy James gets into so many scrapes, and sometimes gets 'one over' on the adults!

Which story do you love reading to your grandchildren and why?

It would have to be THE TWITS by Roald Dahl.

(He had already practically memorised 'The Gruffalo' by the age of 4)

Connor is loving the very hungry caterpillar at the moment. He chooses which book he wants read .... the adults don't get a choice!

Dogger by Shirley Hughes. a great book that my children enjoyed & now my grand daughter does! Bella, in this book, is the perfect bigger sister!
