Stick Man we went to see it with the kids at the theatre and it really helped me bring my story telling alive and has brought such enjoyment

My little granddaughter is three, and lives in Perth, Australia. One of her favourite books is Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, though she enjoys all of his books.
I chat to her at bedtime, several times a week, and we have a story. I know many books off by heart, after reading them to my five children over the years. Sophia thinks it so funny that she holds the book and Grandma ‘reads’ the story to her without looking at it.

The Gruffalo, such a lovely story and great illustrations too

I can't remember the title but it's a book for infants where they have to find animals by looking under pics of leaves or behind doors etc. On the last page is a mirror and when we get to that my little granddaughter says "me!" and starts kissing the mirror! It's delightful!

I dream of reading the very short stories I have been writing as emails for my grandson, just 2, during lockdown whilst we can't mind him. I really wanted to keep him in touch with his toys and the house here so the stories are about Humph his soft toy elephant and Mr Hedgehog, a garden ornament. The stories are simple sentences interspersed with photos of the 'adventures'.

We read Cave Baby (Julia Donaldson and Emily Gravett) again and again and again. He’s just two and it’s his book of choice when I look after him two days a week (pre-Covid obvs).

the hungry caterpillar to my chirldren

hannafore Fri 05-Jun-20 16:26:40

Anne of Green Gables, because Anne is such an endearing character, and gets into lots of scrapes.

Kittyme1 Fri 05-Jun-20 16:55:38

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is their favourite.

ballie Fri 05-Jun-20 23:01:14

Slime by David Walliams because they can relate to it and at the same time they find it interesting and funny. I hope it is the content, rather than the way I read it.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It helps them to discover truth.

At the moment it's the gruffalo, they tend to like to choose their own books.

Apologies if someone has already said it is what they are doing but my 4yr old twin GC are ardent Thomas fans.
I read them the original Thomas books and they are fascinated with the 'older' characters!

fourormore Sat 06-Jun-20 10:06:39

Just seen that Travellingran is reading the old ones too! Lovely to be able to skype them!
Mine are original books that my son (now father of the twins) used to read! I've never even considered chucking away these books and they've been read, in turn by all my GC who now range from 22yrs old down to the twins! GGC may yet get to enjoy them but no sign of GGC yet thank goodness grin

The Roald Dahl books as I enjoyed them myself when I was younger

I love to read Spot the Dog books to both of my grandchildren aged one and a half and 3. At the moment we read together over Zoom and I love to watch their faces and reactions as we move from page to page as they know what's coming next.

My little grandson loves me reading The Three Little Pigs. I read it to him and then he makes up his own version with him, his Mum and Dad as the little pigs but he is quite clever as he is the little piggy that has the house with the bricks!
