My youngest grandson is 2 and loves Zog and Room on the Broom. He can now repeat the words and we embellish the stories. He has a toy Zog now to cuddle whilst he has the story read. It's such a special time as they cuddle into you and chatter back. Because of lockdown he is living with us and now has a story from Papa, Granny and Mummy before going to bed. He also likes Thomas stories and the current favourite is Thomas Goes Crash as you can emphasise the crash. He knows the names of lots of the engines. We are a family who read a lot and I am so glad that all my grandchildren love books.

The Quangle Wangle's Hat - I used to read it to my daughters when they were small and I can still recite it whilst the pages are upside down to me ... or indeed, without the book at all!

The one I like reading is the one I am writing each week during lockdown. It is their family history, back to great grandparents and stories of what their mum got up to. When she was naughty, things she did. They live it and my daughter said she didn’t know half the stuff. I am saving it and will make it into a book(let).

The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. It was a book I loved as a child and read to my children. To be able to read it to my grand-children brings back wonderful memories that I hope will stay with them forever.

I m loving reading Watch with Mother Stories to my 2 yr old granddaughter. She loves Bill and Ben and I’ve made some characters from card that she can add to a landscape frieze I also made for her. I’m looking forward to reading Heidi to her, that was my favourite as a child.

My grandchildren love The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We read and reread it constantly. They love drawing little faces on the end of their fingers before putting them in the holes. Books are wonderful and give children ( and adults) hours of pleasure.
