Growing my own veg, driving a hybrid car.

I've been recycling all my life, starting with the Ben Shaw's pop and bottles from the milk man of course.
Everyone is always amazed to hear that the bedding I have on my bed is approx. 20 years old, having bought it when I moved into this house. Everytime it needs washing, it is air dried as it is suede-effect and goes straight back on the bed as it is so nice! Haha! I think I might have got my money's worth out of it, (and I got it at a bargain price too at the time!)

As well as recycling everything that I can I now also buy refillable eco soap dispensers and use a muslin cloth instead of face wipes for my morning & evening routine.

I have joined my local Womble group and we meet regularly to pick up litter in our local area. Its a great way to help the planet and meet new people.

If I can I reuse, repurpose, recycle. Try and give items yo families that I know will use them rather than binning.

Judith339 Tue 15-Sept-20 17:36:00

Any clothes that I have not worn for a year go to charity shops. I am trying not to buy items in single use plastic but that is hard. Any tips anyone?

SuzC Tue 15-Sept-20 16:47:52

Use the car as little as possible - walk instead. Recycle as much as possible.

Vivian123 Tue 15-Sept-20 15:28:27

Apart from recycling and cutting down on energy use, I am collecting some of the rubbish (lots of it plastic) thrown away by selfish people that is a blot on my locality. I wish I was in a position to collect it all, but there's just too much for one person.

ujhunt1961 Tue 15-Sept-20 12:47:33

I am replacing my plastic containers with glass ones whenever I need a new one because the plastic is spoiled, I then use the old ones for planting my seeds in

HAthanasiou Tue 15-Sept-20 12:43:07

We'd already changed all our lightbulbs to energy efficient ones, replaced our car with a hybrid, line dried our clothes instead of using the dryer and took our own shopping bags to the supermarket but this year and especially since lockdown, we (as a family including my 19 year old uni student daughter) have all become vegan, walk to our local High Street instead of driving, replaced toothbrushes with bamboo ones, switched to beeswax wrappers instead of plastic sandwich bags, made reusable face masks for ourselves and many of our friends and family and my daughter made the biggest sacrifice - she stopped buying fast fashion and started buying 2nd hand clothing.

We have really embraced waste recycling, compost making and also shopping in car boot sales and charity stores

renaplumridge Tue 15-Sept-20 09:00:47

I’m recycling more and more and trying to avoid plastics

mumofmadboys Tue 15-Sept-20 07:16:13

I try to only buy things which I really need. I have plenty of clothes so have decided to stop buying any more.

Kittyme1 Mon 14-Sept-20 20:15:59

Recycle, reuse, mend, home composting.

Horatia Mon 14-Sept-20 19:12:11

I only use the Express wash which takes 15 mins with my washing and hand wash where possible. I never use the electric clothes dryer now but use my wooden clothes horse instead. You could say I've gone full cycle with my washing returning to where I started and enjoying doing my bit.

hutchy73 Mon 14-Sept-20 18:49:58

Walk as much as I can , rarely use the car . Try to recycle as much as possible and use a reusable bottle for drinks

agreaves19 Mon 14-Sept-20 18:11:16

I always try to recycle where I can, including taking clothing and toys to the charity shops on a regular basis

Lunchtimelady1 Mon 14-Sept-20 16:05:56

Reuse, repurpose, and recycle most things. Try not to be wasteful of resources, natural or man made, and enjoy what we have.

Nanna58 Mon 14-Sept-20 15:51:30

Set a target of 50% of any clothes I buy for winter must be pre- loved ( ok, second hand!) and hopefully will raise that amount for the next and subsequent seasons

GETTING ON MY BIKE ¬¬

hwg3141 Mon 14-Sept-20 15:38:49

I'm recycling as much as possible!

minorca Mon 14-Sept-20 13:48:50

stick to a shopping list to avoid any food waste. Think twice about buying new clothes furniture etc ask yourself do you really need it.

heavensjoys Mon 14-Sept-20 12:04:42

I have been using up all my many quarter full bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, etc, which have been languishing at the back of cupboards.

The upturned bottles have been great for my purse too. I am amazed at how few bottles I have had to buy in the last six months, with hardly any effort.

blubber Mon 14-Sept-20 10:06:59

I never waste food, grow my own vegetables, give the peelings to my hens and recycle everything recyclable.

Venus Mon 14-Sept-20 09:58:46

Dry washing outside whenever possible to save on energy tumble drying.

Always turn off lights in rooms not being used.

Adding plants to the garden, especially bee loving ones.

Trying to keep my resident toad happy by not using chemicals on the garden.
