As a family we now have 2 x meat free days. With two teenage sons that was not easy at first but now it is the norm. Making a concerted effort to have no waste food.

I keep all coffee pods to recycle and take them to the local animal charity shop. They take certain crisp packets and they used to take empty cat pouches but some people were not washing them out. This also gives the animal charity funds.
I do find it hard to then see some recycled goods exported abroad and then just dumped.

I've fully cut out meat, and started using a moon-cup instead of disposable tampons/pads.

I'm recycling glass, paper , plastic and leftover foods. I'm donating old clothes or furniture to charities and I'm not buying cleaning products or foods with lots of plastic packaging.

I have solar panels, I barely heat my house and go to bed early in the winter with a heated blanket. I don't fly.

Missfoodlove Thu 10-Sept-20 19:12:44

I made a new year resolution to ban single use plastic from our home!
It’s been quite a revelation!
I use beeswax wraps, reusable freezer bags, a local shop fills up my fabric conditioner, washing liquid etc.
Supermarkets will put deli products in to your own containers.
I’m not all the way there but getting close.
Our loo roll is now delivered on a subscription, it’s eco friendly and 50% of profit goes to charity. ?.
I think we’re all doing our bit!!!!

We recycle everything that we are allowed to. I don’t eat meat. I switch plugs off when not in use. I reuse bags. Etc ❤️ Thanks

grannyactivist Thu 10-Sept-20 16:13:29

I gave up my car, I reduce, re-use and recycle, I buy the majority of my clothes from charity shops, grow most of my own food and I have encouraged my children to do almost all of the above.

Oh yes - and I married a man whose life-motto is, 'use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without'! grin

Hameringham Thu 10-Sept-20 16:05:37

Recycle as much as possible . Very strict on which waste goes where fir the bin collection. Grow our own veg. and share with the neighbours. Also use a water butt and maintain a compost bin.

NotSpaghetti Thu 10-Sept-20 15:57:41

Ha ha! I am using very old pans! I thought this was an appropriate comment!
I have a number of baking trays, pans and utensils from the 1950s that are still in use.

paulam Thu 10-Sept-20 15:57:29

Suzic Thu 10-Sept-20 14:32:49
