He watches.
A woman runs alone in the woods. She convinces herself she has no reason to be afraid, but she’s wrong. A predator is stalking the women of Grant County. He lingers in the shadows, until the time is just right to snatch his victim.
He waits.
A decade later, the case has been closed. The killer is behind bars. But then another young woman is brutally attacked and left for dead, and the MO is identical.
He takes.
Although the original trail has gone cold – memories have faded, witnesses have disappeared – agent Will Trent and forensic pathologist Sara Linton must re-open the cold case. But the clock is ticking, and the killer is determined to find his perfect silent wife….

Rachael Abbott nowhere child is a good read.
I read psychological thrillersto try to get some insights into aberrant human behaviour. Lisa Jewells books are absorbing. Her characterisations are totally plausible and I'm always sorry when the book ends. I was particularly affected by The Family Upstairs. The insidious development of a sinister cult in a quiet residential street.
Love the Perfect series by Helen Fields My favourite is Perfect Crime. Although quite gruesome I love the twists and turns of the plot and the minute details until the criminal is caught So different to my everyday life
Stieg Larsson trilogy, top notch thrillers.
I read so many and follow many detectives series so to pick one book is very hard, so those that quickly come to mind are Roy Grace by Peter James, DCI Banks by Peter Robinson, DCI Logan by JD Kirk and DCI Ryan by LJ Ross, but so many more that are just as good.
I love a good crime thriller , having recently retired i have just finished reading The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter, so great to have the time to to enjoy a afternoon read ,
Cara Hunter, I love the DI Fawley books and I can really relate as they are based in and around Oxford which is local for me. Trying to work out who the murderer is before the end is part of why I love these kind of books so much
SLEEP by C L TAYLOR
Linda La Plante. Her 'Widows' books are brilliant for plot and visualisation.
I like psychological thrillers best, Chris Carter, Lars Keplar, JD Barker come to mind. They are so gripping and I read them so fast. I am always trying to figure it out, but I never do!!
Love thrillers because there is usually a twist or intrigue withing them.
I have all the Sue Grafton novels. I love Kinsey Millhone, a private investigator, who is the central character in these books. She has those human characteristics so often missing in fictional individuals. Their jobs and work struggles and achievements take over.
I couldn't pick a favourite, although the narratives are all individual. They all read as one complete story.
I love to read thrillers because I'm rubbish at picking up on clues and so I'm always surprised at the end! I particularly enjoyed Need To Know by Karen Cleveland which literally twisted and turned until the last word.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for me
Sophie Hannah's books are all excellent. Best 'detective' novel Josephine Tey's The Daughters of Time, who killed the little princes in the tower, not a historical novel as such; a comtemporary research into past crimes.
Sorry forgot other bit-love it when someone's words and story telling can take you to another place and escape from reality for a while.
Ay ay ay where to start.. I'm going to come from left field with a Stephen King book Joyland which unlike most of his excellent work isn't supernatural etc, it's more a subtle thriller/crime novel about a serial killer.
Darkside by Belinda Bauer
Love Reading thrillers as they are gripping and keep you guessing until the end
love jefferey deaver and all his lincoln rhyme books
Love that a good book can immerse you in and not be able to put it down, especially with a good thriller like The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
I love Ian Rankin, especially the Inspector Rebus novels. His characters are so well formed. I like the anticipation and plot twists with a thriller - it keeps me on my toes!
Perfect read while enjoying your spring garden
At the moment my DGD (aged 11) is reading Robin Stevens Murder Most Unladylike series to me most days. It's her Reading Out Loud practice and she's now very good. We're now about half way through the series and I'm really getting into them. They may be aimed at pre-teens but she's an excellent writer, throws in lots of interesting descriptions and occasional big words which need explanation. I'm wondering if, as the school girls age in the series, the books will grow into adult reading too.
Hello, hope you are well in these strange times.
To me, a thriller is one of the most attention grabbing genre one can read. Just the feeling of the hairs pricking up on the back of my neck as I become engrossed in a true heartbeat slipping piece of work is what really gets me excited. When reading anything by dame Agatha Christie I am transported to another place and am enthralled by every second I am there.
Warm regards.
I love reading thrillers, especially ones that keep me guessing till the end. I'm currently reading The Sanatorium and really enjoying it. I'm a huge fan of C J Tudor's books too, The Burning Girls was brilliant and I couldn't guess the ending.
