flowers to those who have such worries about their loved ones.

I’m heaving with cold at the moment so feel sorry for myself. I’m sure it’s not CV but almost wish it was so I got it over and done with, if you understand.

I feel fairly well prepared and am also resigned to it but I’m also finding boredom creeping in already. I guess my main concerns are for a son who is a bad asthmatic and my mum in her 90’s, although she herself is sanguine about it and thinks it’s not she who is vulnerable, it’s ‘old people’, one of which she doesn’t count herself. smile

harrigran, of course you are important?

Greymar Sat 14-Mar-20 20:30:03

so sorry joanna, thats awful.

merlotgran Sat 14-Mar-20 20:27:43

DD and her family were going to visit next weekend for mother's day. We've cancelled sad

They are worried enough about us as it is without unwittingly passing on the virus. They're all in the thick of it.

We've also decided not to visit them for Easter. Cancelled the kennel booking this morning.

I fear this is going to be a long old slog.

No not at all neither am I self isolating unless forced
I will get through this or I won’t but I refuse to bow down to it so I m carrying on as normal until such time as the government tell me I have to stop

I thought these last 12 months couldn’t get worse for our family. Both my son in law and husband have advanced cancer and have compromised immune systems due to the chemo.
I have stayed strong throughout the treatment, and my daughter, who teaches full-time, has been wonderful supporting her husband and us.
Now my husband and I feel we can’t even go to the local shops together. We walked around the park today to get out of the house.
I am not worried for myself, but for the two chaps.

harrigran Sat 14-Mar-20 20:19:39

I am not scared but very sad that I have battled cancer and could potentially die of a virus because my life is not important.

Kandinsky Sat 14-Mar-20 20:15:00

Ooh, over 70’s will be told to stay at home for 4 months.
If my news feed is correct?

EllanVannin Sat 14-Mar-20 20:14:24

I've just been laughing to myself thinking that we can't even take flight anywhere as everyone's in the same boat----nowhere is free from it.

Just tried to do a shopping on line as I normally do and every week is booked up to first week of April anytime of day! Just couldn't believe it, it's starting to feel uncomfortable. This apart from the obvious health worry which brings me to medication supplies as we are both on medication.

I feel the same as Sirchenjin. I worry about my husband as he is very susceptible to viruses. And I feel silly saying this but I have discussed... just in case.... with OH.

I pray that we will all be ok and I wonder at the end of this, will the world be a better place. It has certainly made me think.

Taking matters into our own hands is exactly the right thing to do!
Any government can only do so much, they aren’t omnipotent after all.
Am fatalistic about life generally, but as DH went through a similar thing only a few months ago I realise how very serious pneumonia is, and am hoping for his sake that we stay healthy.
There is quite a lot that we can do to protect ourselves, but
Talking to friends and neighbours the feeling seems to be
Fairly low key about it, still going out, but being wary of crowded places, not eating out etc.

EllanVannin Sat 14-Mar-20 20:09:55

Well it can't be any worse than what I had the whole of January. I dusted the policies then !
Never thought I'd survive quite honestly, like nothing I'd had in my lifetime, my step-daughter said the same as we'd both suffered the same except that she suffered vertigo afterwards.

Que Sera, Sera

I’m a cross between resigned and worried, we both have health problems and would probably not get a lot of help from the NHS .
A family member ( teacher) has a fever and a cough as has a couple of his pupils, but as there is no testing we won’t know if he has the virus or not. The school remains open so our relatives children probably have it already. He will self isolate along with his children, but it could be a number of weeks before they are all better, assuming they all get it.
Do we become immune after being ill? Probably not as cases in China have shown, the point is that we won’t know, because there is no testing to even see what illness we are suffering from.
So many unknowns.

TrendyNannie6 Sat 14-Mar-20 20:07:04

Both me and my husband are high risk, I wouldn’t say we are scared as such, we have stepped up washing our hands much more than did, we are not stockpiling, we are concerned about our local doctors surgery it was bad enough before trying to get an appointment and worse now, but so far it seems so surreal

BlueSapphire Sat 14-Mar-20 20:05:58

Yes, I'm scared, and told DD this morning. Just feel like pulling up the drawbridge and hibernating for however long it takes. I'm in my 70s, and luckily have no underlying health concerns, but still feel I'm at risk. But at the moment am sitting with a glass of red wine, and taking Dutch courage!

Greymar Sat 14-Mar-20 20:04:00

I don't want to isolate.

SirChenjin Sat 14-Mar-20 19:58:43

I’m becoming increasingly concerned and I don’t feel that the Scottish or Westminster Govts are moving quickly enough to stem the panic or put a clear plan in place. It seems like people are starting to take matters into their own hands in the face of Govt inaction or limited action.

craftyone Sat 14-Mar-20 19:58:19

not at all. I started making preps back in december. Being on my own I can properly isolate and have done from today. I would be scared for my husband if he was still alive

Curlywhirly Sat 14-Mar-20 19:56:12

I am a massive worrier - but strangely, am quite calm about the coronavirus problem; my husband never worries about anything and is very fatalistic, but is really apprehesive about the virus, asking me if we have enough food to last a fortnight's isolation and have we plenty of paracetamol. It's just not like him to expect the worst, that's usually my job.

merlotgran Sat 14-Mar-20 19:55:01

I'll be scared if DH gets it but at the moment I'm just focusing on making sure we have everything we need.

Tangerine Sat 14-Mar-20 19:53:18

I am beginning to feel very worried indeed.

MerylStreep Sat 14-Mar-20 19:51:20

No, not at all scared. Curious and interested as to exactly what happened. But we'll never no, will we.
Maybe in generations to come, they will, but not us.

Marydoll Sat 14-Mar-20 19:50:32

I'm no longer scared, just resigned! sad
There is no point in panicking, as apart from being very careful and taking precautions, there is not much I can do.

Sorry to be morbid, but I have picked my funeral hymns and readings and made my wishes known.

As long as I get to my daughter's wedding in two weeks, I will be happy. A year ago just now I was very seriously ill in CCU, I never thought I would get out, never mind get to this point. Every day is a bonus! smile

Kandinsky Sat 14-Mar-20 19:50:32

Yes I am.
I’m 57 with an ‘underlying health problem’ ( asthma )
If I catch the virus, I’m not hopeful the NHS will bother trying to treat me.
