China and Cuba send help

If China had closed its borders in November when the first cases of Covid-19 were discovered, instead of imprisoning doctors/journalists for reporting it, the world would not be in the grip of a pandemic.

Do you know who else could close the borders? All of the other countries.

Not xenophobic at all trisher it has been mentioned on main stream news that the Doctor who "broke the story" was arrested for putting the story on social media, unfortunately he has since died of the virus.

Beds have been cut in the NHS by 17000 since 2010.

quizqueen Completely unsubstantiated post. The people who have kept our NHS running are often from other countries. As for Cuba it is the massive investment in health that has kept up standards and enabled progress. Cuba is one of the poorest countries in the world and yet they have amongst the best health and education services which are completely free. We are about the fifth richest and our NHS is massively underfunded. What's the saying? You get what you pay for!!

It seems to me that what is really important at this dreadful time, is that all countries pull together and support one another - no one is exempt from this.

Cuba has a population of about 11 million with a landmass of just under half of the UK. One moral of that story is- if you want to have good health care system then you restrict the growth of your population. I keep having to remind you all that the majority of posters on here have voted for free movement of people over the years and, I would hazard a guess, that you are also against restricting benefit payments for the first 2 children only. Please do not complain that our health service cannot cope when it is numbers, not lack of financial support, that is causing the problem.

It seems Cuba is way ahead in the medical and educational field, it fact its far better than the USA.

Apparently the EU will include UK in their proposed share of equipement .They dont HAVE to because we aren't members but they will. If only our own ... chief clown had such empathy . Pigs might fly!

They have the most widely used medical relief teams in the world which given that for 60 years they have been subjected to restrictions which have denied them access to medical supplies is extraordinary. They build their own dyalisis machines. Perhaps they could come here and build respirators for us.

Didn't Cuba send help to other countries during the Ebola crisis.
