I have been advised to leave work and self isolate for 12 weeks as I have diabetes. Will I get paid for my absence?

Have you asked your employers?

Have you asked your employer?

Can you take extended holiday leave for part of it?

Have you been officially advised?

Everything seems to be up in the air at the moment with new information each day.
Hopefully you will be able to .

Yes, it was announced in the budget that anyone having to self exclude will get sick pay.

£96 whoooppee doo . That’ll pay the bills won’t it ? angry

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 17-Mar-20 10:46:29

Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Maybe the employer will allow some holiday leave to be used, I doubt that many of us will be wanting to go away this year.

Ireland are paying an increased amount to their already higher sick pay .BoJo will more than likely pay Branson what he's asking for as compensation while the rest of the community can go beg.....Tory policies are such caring policies...NOT!!

Calendargirl Tue 17-Mar-20 11:14:19

Oh, do give it a rest Paddyanne!
This constant griping about Boris from you and a certain few others does not help anyone.
He is our leader, we are in a crisis unlike any other, and whatever our feelings about him and his government, we have to put our trust and belief in him and them, otherwise the situation will become intolerable.

Who could live in £96 though Oopsadaisy with Rent/mortgage, gas, electric, council tax, food all still to pay for?

gillybob Tue 17-Mar-20 11:31:43

On not in

Kittye Tue 17-Mar-20 11:40:27

Hear hear Calendargirl I’m not a Boris fan but 100% agree with what you said

GagaJo Tue 17-Mar-20 12:39:55

I disagree that we have to trust him. I think we have to keep up the pressure (social and men) to force him and Cummings to do the right thing.

And if they don't, WE have to make sure we keep our families safe ourselves.

GagaJo Tue 17-Mar-20 12:40:22

NOT men, MSM

I understand that the Chancellor is announcing emergency funding measures today.

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 17-Mar-20 13:29:48

gillybob I hear what you are saying, but it’s coming out of the public purse, better to have that than nothing, as in other countries( I saw some countries in lock down aren’t paying anyone anything at all) . I’d have to fact check the countries.

My 2 DDs would be grateful for anything they get, they are self employed and have had to stop working altogether. Years of building up clients and now all gone.

I doubt that they will get anything. Hopefully they won’t have to move back in with us.

gillybob Tue 17-Mar-20 13:40:58

SSP does not come out of the public purse oopsadsisy it is paid by the employer (no matter how small) and it cannot be claimed back .

gillybob Tue 17-Mar-20 13:42:34

I know exactly what it’s like to build up a business only to see it fall apart .

Hetty58 Tue 17-Mar-20 13:45:35

The self-employed don't get sick pay do they? It will be interesting to see exactly what's in today's press conference. People can't live on thin air!

annsixty Tue 17-Mar-20 14:16:09

My D expects her business to fold within weeks.
She is single and has two young adult C.
One who has health issues works with her and one 17, is at college.
She employs 5 people part time.
She is so worried she can’t sleep.
Sadly she is one of thousands.

gillybob Tue 17-Mar-20 14:43:15
