Coronavirus

I’m sure we haven’t got it.

DS2 is now working from home, the whole family in isolation for two weeks because the baby had a cough and they rang the doctor. Nobody seriously thinks it is the virus and he is nearly better but DS2 is very frustrated as there is a limit to what he can do from home. The person who is covering for him has a great condition and should be keeping safe at home. It is very unfortunate but the rules have to be kept to.

On a purely practical level, neither of you have either of the symptoms that indicate probable CV19 infection: HIGH fever or new, persistent cough. Likely to be simple cold.

It's a tricky one isn't it ? But I'd rather they prioritised testing key workers to confirm if they can work and channel time,NHS staff and resources into actually treating those needing treatment. Most people will recover at home with rest and paracetamol. And if I self isolate and it was a false alarm so be it.

Sadly, who can say?
If we can't be tested we can't know. I wish we had got on top of the testing.
In fact, I wish we had got on top of the whole thing.

I think you should seek medical advice for this one morethan2 you have to take into account not only the infection but the emotional toll on your daughter in law and granddaughter if they are not together. You have my sympathy with this very difficult situation, take care.

Many of you know my family’s current difficulties regarding my sick DiL. So the youngest granddaughter was sent home from school with a mild head cold. It was decided that for the safety of her mum she should stay with me. The feeling was I see her every day so if she’s got it I’d probably have it too. I’ve developed exactly the same symptoms but one day later. I’m reasonably positive it’s not this Coronavirus. We’ve both got headaches a very slight temperature and that weak feeling that comes over us when you’ve done too much. This is the third day and neither of us any worse. I’m tired because she snores! I’m starting to worry about her mum missing her for no good reason. The time they will spend together now is both limited and precious. What to do? Have any of you had a plain old virus with the description I’ve given that can put my mind at rest that it’s just a simple virus.
