knittkngnana I don't know the answer; your SIL is in an essential job if he is a truck driver delivering food, although I don't know the situation with Spain now.
However, with your DD being unwell and isolating, they need to seek advice and be needs to abide by that.

As someone said earlier, he's not breaking the law.

Please report him, not easy but this thing is so serious , through him, millions could end up infected. It is an absolute no brainier.

I ow use marigold gloves hen going out, then when I come home just wash my hands with gloves on, then take them off and wash my hands again. Mr Barmey is still going out every day (with his yellow marigolds on) and either runs or cycles, both on his own and rarely meets anyone. I am going to go out in a minute and get some sun but will go on my bike with gloves and a mask.
My biggest problem is my daughter not only disabled but has learning difficulties and lives on her own with carers coming in 3 times a day. Tomorrow I am having to go and see her as I need to stock her up with food and milk as she can't plan ahead.. But I won't stay long and will be wearing my protective gear. stay safe everyone.

I heard it late last night and found it profoundly affecting. It's an ICU doctor working in our NHS calling in after a shift to a radio talk-show.
Amongst other things he speaks of doctors trying to care for a 40year old with no pre existing conditions. He was so gentle, sincere and quietly direct. Best thing I've heard about our response to this virus yet.

I would share it with your daughter. Just ask her to listen. I do not want my sons and daughters to die for two weeks work. My daughter-in-law is being really bossy with my son. Hats off to her! Only your daughter can protect her family and her husband but I think it does call for strength at a difficult time.

Had to read the riot act at partner who thought he might “pop out and do a bit of shopping - here and there”!!
I suggested he might pop round to estate agents and find a flat to rent for the duration of CV19.
I am 70 and isolating - had Myocardial and waiting for angiogram! I wouldn't mind so much if he didn't watch the news 8am, 1pm, 6pm and 10pm!
Clearly all the advice is for everyone on the planet except him!!

I can't quite believe how some of my thoughts about people have changed since all of this started. I'm usually fairly open minded and accept people all have different ideas but I'm one of the people on minimum wage, with young chikdrnw and no support network who is supposed to go into work as usual. Professional and his take on this virus is that everyone is over reacting. I do t think we are acting quickly enough! Look at Italy. And we are 3 weeks behind them aren't we ?

I let work know but as far as I can see, I'm still on the rota. Myself and my children should be in isolation. Ive shut my door and as far as I am concerned, this is day one of my 14 of no contact.
I've had words over my (ex) husbands insistence that it's ok to take the kids to his house... he lives with his elderly parents and one of them has medical treatment st the hospital three times a week. I'm speechless -I've let both of them
Know that I don't agree but I have no way of stopping him taking them there. Its selfish, irresponsible and I'm so angry. How would my children feel it they passed something to their grandparents?
I'm waiting for work to get back to me (I like my job- I'm happy going in) but even without the cough-I could still pass it to others if I have it. The guidelines are v clear and been as far as I understand, rhenlids and I should be isolated for 2 weeks. I still hate to think I put anyone else at risk
As a aise thought, I've been quite usoet by a few older family members saying that things xomapre this situation to the war ' we are sitting at home, not fighting for our lives ' type thing. Not everyone will escape with their life, lots are still working (like me on £8.21 an hour) and lots of people inc me have lost all of their self employed income which no, the government won't cover. The knock on effect will also be long term as businesses fail so I guess if you are financially stable and off work at home, on full pay- you are very fortunate or if you have family who can bail you out or a big nest egg- as long as you stay well then nothing' much will change, apart from a slight change to routine. Elbow bumps or waves or whatever we are supposed to Do now- to everyone x

However, our Government did not and has not thought it through really.

Children of key workers will stay at school. Key workers including delivery people will stay in work. These families will not be isolated. Somehow life-sustaining needs have to be brought to people. Maybe he feels he is transporting important goods to where they are needed.

As your daughter decided to isolate on the grounds of her having symptoms, though, that does make it more imperative that he isolate himself as well. Unfortunately I fear someone might report him. They will notice he is not with his family in isolation. Unless he decided to live in his lorry for the 14 days.

I think many of us will be faced with dilemmas during this difficult time.

The advise is clear everyone has to be social distancing and grandparents not looking after grandchildren as they are potentially carrier's who show no symptoms which is why schools are closed.
Unfortunately the police are powerless to do anything as it's not against the law to not self isolate after an over seas trip. The case on the Isle of Man was because the have their own laws and parliament.
If I was your daughter make sure either he didn't set foot over the door or isolate myself and the children away from him.

See theres the word 'recommended'- thats whats causing all the trouble? It needs to enforced- like italy& everywhere that you only go out to get food.(only food shops/ chemists need to stay open anyway!)And only IF YOURE HEALTHY,NO SYMPTOMS,NOT BEEN OUT OF UK! There is nothing wrong with going for a drive to the countryside (in a Jag or any car) and getting out for a stroll, taking a picnic. Just keep a distance from others.

I think the government are very naive about people being responsible. Obviously a lot are but it only takes a few irresponsible ones to enable this virus to keep spreading.

I think all returnees from Europe should be confined, as happened with those off the cruise ship in Japan. The cost would be a drop in the ocean compared to what is being spent on wages etc. In fact I am astonished that Italians and Spanish people are being allowed to return and just walk straight back into everyday life.

I find disposal rubber gloves useful - I have to go into the office once a week fora few hours and have been provided with gloves and a tub of sanitiser wipes - I dispose of the gloves on the way out and replace them with my driving gloves. When I get back in the house I take those off and wash my hands.

At the moment the number of deaths worldwide - 10,000 - is small compared to those resulting from the ‘flu’ in 68 (1 million deaths) and the Asian (started in China) 56-58 ‘flu’ (2 million deaths) let alone HIV or the 1918 Pandemic - at least 20 million deaths from a much smaller world population.
