A lot of people I know are sending me messages full of inaccuracies.

They are nice people and perhaps don't mean to scaremonger but it is getting irritating.

My family are forwarding hilarious messages they have received. One this morning showed floor plan of a flat, written underneath: looking at the map and planning my weekend adventure!

An ICU doesn’t have to be full!! Weird statement.

There's a member on a WhatsApp group I set up who's really annoying a lot of us with her well-meaning but dramatic posts. You'd think she has a hotline to No. 10!
I'm so tempted to remove her but don't think it would help, she'd probably just set up another group.
At least on the current one we can put her straight if necessary ?

The only people who might be alarmed are the gullible ones

Of course ICU is full of seriously ill patients, we are more than aware of that.
It's the fact that people feel the need to feed the drama and sensationalise everything, that is annoying me. I'm all for a bit of humour, but this is inappropriate in the light of all the deaths.
My friend seems to be revelling in all of this. I don't think she has fully grasped the seriousness and implications of it all.

Concur. Something would be very wrong if ICU wasn't full of seriously ill people!

I don’t know why the comment “ICU was absolutely full of seriously ill people” was alarming and assumed to be inaccurate Daddima.

Isn’t that exactly what ICU is for?

SueDonim Sat 21-Mar-20 18:10:10

Oh, that too, Marydoll. I’ve got one particular friend who is bombarding me with rubbish like that. She ought to flipping well know better, she’s a pharmaceutical chemist! She’s also very likely to become very sick if she gets CV and she ought not be spreading fake news in this way.

SueDonim Sat 21-Mar-20 18:07:21

Oh, it annoys me intensely and I’m not usually given to that kind of emotion. It’s like the modern equivalent of a chain letter, isn’t it? angry

I'm getting lots from a friend to a WhatsApp group chat, which are seriously annoying me. I have to keep deleting them as my phone is being filled up with either, scaremongering or purportedly humorous ones.
They don't help anyone.

Yesterday, minutes after I messaged her to say that my daughter's wedding had been cancelled next week, she sent a stream of comic videos. Totally insensitive to say the least.

So many posts purporting to be from ‘ a friend who’s a nurse’, or ‘ someone who works in ICU’, all sharing inaccurate information,( like drink warm water to flush the virus into the stomach, where the acid will kill it)
One ‘ICU’ nurse was supposed to have finished a shift in Glasgow, and said ICU was absolutely full of ‘ seriously ill people’
Don’t folk realise that people will be alarmed by these?
