THE BIG CLAP!

The shouty capitals are intended, just a reminder that tonight, at 8pm, as many people as possible through the UK are asked to stand in their gardens, out side their front doors, on their balcony etc and make a noise to show support for the NHS workers.

I might feel a bit silly in our little cul de sac, but I'll be out there!

Most people out in our street. I was a bit cynical about it but it was quite moving. Mind someone I know who works for the NHS asked when I told him it was happening "What am I supposed to do? Take a bow!"

I can’t see or hear other people’s front doors, so I don’t know if it happened anywhere near me or not. I didn’t do it, but I watched a bit on television. It’s interesting that you’re all so positive about it. I thought it was a rather silly, childish idea, though I admire the NHS as much as anyone. I just thank any NHS worker I come into contact with.

We joined in. It was hard to see how many others there were as we have primitive street lights but we weren’t alone. Dh nearly split my eardrum by whistling with his fingers! hmmgrin

We were out clapping. I tried to film it but clapping and filming don't go together. Lots out on our street clapping and cheering and a few fireworks. My daughter , who is a speech therapist and specialises in treating patients with breathing problems, lives round the corner. She was in tears. And a neighbour gave her a bottle of wine.

Great round of applause and cheers. Feeling emotional !

Very moving on a starry night. Great.

Very special and incredibly moving

Wonderful. My husband and I stood outside thinking we were alone in our cul-de-sac but lights started flashing. A neighbour with a saucepan and wooden spoon. Most others came out and we all clapped and cheered. We feel for the NHS this must be their worst time since their beginnings in July 1948.

grin So good to hear! Great response in our little cul de sac, and we could hear others in the village too!

Uplifting!

Flashing lights, courtesy of opposite neighbours, lots of clapping.

All out here in my town. Clapping and cheering. Wonderful. It brought a tear to my eye. Thank you to our NHS staff.

We've just done it. There were loads of people out on our street. Someone was banging on a saucepan! A few fireworks were let off somewhere too.

A very moving experience with people clapping, cheering and whistling. Something to remember when this nightmare is over. Stay safe everyone.

A neighbour here played "Flower of Scotland" on her saxophone. This was followed by a child from another house making discordant noises on one of those football hooters - not quite as melodic but certainly LOUD.

ginny Thu 26-Mar-20 20:10:17

Plenty of clappers around my all town in N. Bucks. Very moving.

MawB Thu 26-Mar-20 20:10:07

Glad there were no fireworks- Hattie would have been terrified

Grammaretto Thu 26-Mar-20 20:09:37

We went to our window and bashed a saucepan with a ladle. Across the valley we heard others. Amazing!

THANKYOU ALL CARERS EVERYWHERE

Whitewavemark2 Thu 26-Mar-20 20:09:31

That was brilliant?

MerylStreep Thu 26-Mar-20 20:08:54

Just come in. Lots of people out, clapping and cheering and rattling different utensils. Very moving.

Juliet27 Thu 26-Mar-20 20:08:51

Was pleased most came out in our little street.

MawB Thu 26-Mar-20 20:08:48

Exactly the same as Septimia- quite emotional.

Cunco Thu 26-Mar-20 20:08:31

The NHS has never welcomed the clap before! We did the deed, so did the people across the road and there were fireworks in the distance. Let's hope we can all stay out of hospital.

Septimia Thu 26-Mar-20 20:07:24

I didn't think it would happen in our little village, especially the way the houses are arranged, but I went outside and there was clapping and whooping and someone even sounded their car horn.

I'm really pleased, especially since we've had to stop ringing the church bell to remind everyone that they're cared for and about.

EllanVannin Thu 26-Mar-20 20:07:10

Boats were hooting, cars up and down sounding their horns and people clapping all over the place and fireworks going off.

Two of the cats were wondering what was going on.

Labaik Thu 26-Mar-20 20:03:21

I wasn't sure whether to do it on my street with everyone being old but, there they all were whistling and clapping. I'm in bits now....
