I hope he recovers - I’ve followed his being ill at home, it sounded horrendous. He’s had a night in ICU but his family say he’s now back on the ward. Fingers crossed. A lovely man.

Missed this entirely. He used to go in to the children’s school to encourage reading and writing poetry. They thought he was wonderful.

Hope he is feeling better.

Thanks MawB

ITV Breakfast show has Michael on as a guest.

He's feeling good!

Lovely to see him and he's chatting to Kate Garraway whose husband is still in Intensive Care

Thanks Maw.

There is a thread about his recovery

I read this update in one of my favourite emails "Five Good Things" which drops into my email box every Sunday, courtesy of The Tall Photographer.

[Michael Rosen's] now back on Twitter after 47 days in intensive care due to the coronavirus, and he's starting to learn to walk again.

BlueSky yes that story was utterly heartbreaking. It comes to my mind often and reduces me to tears every time.

BlueSky Sun 24-May-20 09:55:05

Yes Grannynanny still thinking about that 13 year old boy who tragically died and his family couldn't even visit! Truly heartbreaking sad

Good news to hear Michael Rosen is out of ICU.

I hope Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper will soon follow in his foot steps. He also has been in ICU for 7 or 8 weeks due to Covid.

How awful for their families not even able to visit their loved ones as they fight for their lives

BlueSky Sun 24-May-20 09:35:09

Good news for a change!

rubysong Sun 24-May-20 09:17:53

Great news. What a worry and so long in ICU.

LullyDully Sun 24-May-20 08:24:06

That is a piece of good news.*oops*. I found his poem about the NHS very moving too. Trying times.

Oopsminty Sun 24-May-20 01:21:50

Just seen this.

Let's hope he continues on the road to recovery

That’s sad about his son. Julia Donaldson lost a child also didn’t she? And they’ve brought so much joy to so many people.

You may know We're Going on a Bear Hunt. Basically he's a poetry, language and words man.

BlueSky Wed 20-May-20 00:26:59

Didn't know him so I looked him up and tragically he's lost a 18 year old son to meningitis.

Thanks growstuff, let's hope no news is good news. Very good discussion on Radio 4 with him and Philip Pullman. Well worth a listen.

I think primary teachers are aware of his wonderful children's poetry.

LullyDully His wife has been writing on his Twitter account, but it hasn't been updated since 7 May, when he was still very poorly.

SilverDarlings12 Tue 19-May-20 16:47:07

Maizie D-----Showing yourself up again.

JenniferEccles Tue 19-May-20 16:42:54

Nobody has said what’s wrong with him so I have to guess it’s THE virus!
I haven’t heard of him either.

LullyDully Tue 19-May-20 16:29:42

Michael Rosen is talking to Philip Pullman on radio 4 about language. Does anyone know if he's better now?

So sorry to hear that.

From what his family have just said on Twitter, it’s looking as though it’s uncertain that Michael will survive.
