Story and hot chocolate sounds like a very good prison. Night night everyone.
Good Morning Sunday 17th May 2026
My DH is on the shielded list. Just wondering how many others there are on GN and how you are coping with staying in all the time.

Story and hot chocolate sounds like a very good prison. Night night everyone.
I have seen a very handsome man and he brought me some groceries but then went home again to that woman across the road, claiming he had to go because she is his wife.
No really. Well that’s interesting carillion. ?
I’m afraid I will be like one of those Dulux dogs with hair all over my eyes ?.
grammaretto when Marydoll cleaned our her linen cupboard she found a stash of chocolate.....I don’t suppose you found any too did you....?
Back later for the hot chocolate and tonight’s story. I think we will do the princess and the pea cherry I think the one about being locked in due to a virus is too far fetched?
Callistemon how bizarre is that!
I have been shouting from an upstairs window for weeks now. My hair hasn't grown much but I shall keep a lookout for handsome men.
I am listening out for the Ramp word on briefing but haven't heard it yet Mamissimo That is horrible to have cellulitis. Get better soon.
"In terms of" is the one I keep hearing. Also "period of time" and "the front foot
I have been clearing out my linen cupboard on this beautiful day. Someone is wanting old sheets to make laundry bags for the NHS so I have made up a heavy pile. How do we have so much! I still have sheets which belonged to my DGM which she had sewn sides to middle.
I am going to watch Treasure Island by the National Theatre
www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/shows/nt-at-home-treasure-island
All this talk of cake is making me hungry.
I think we will all be like Rapunzel at the end of this self-isolation.
Locked in a tower with no access to a hairdresser, our tresses will become long and flowing. One day a handsome young man will come along one day and try to rescue us.
Incidentally, the name of the village from where Rapunzel was taken by the witch was called Corona in the Disney version.
Another two banana cakes just out of the oven
We seem to have gone off eating bananas in lockdown so I'm making cakes with them when they get over-ripe.
Please share them around, we don't need the extra calories!??
Yes Doodle that would be nice, or the princess and the frog ?. Alternatively, you could make up a prison story, one where people are confined to their cells because there is an invisible but dangerous enemy about. May be a strange story and a bit far fetched but ... truth can be a strange ...
I haven't been floored by a lettuce but when I was young I did break my thumb playing with a frisbee! ? ?. Yep, truth can be stranger than fiction.
Home baked by the farmers wfe!?
mamissimo my dyslexia plays tricks on me sometimes and having just been reading bradfordlass’ post I thought you said you’d been floored by a lettuce ?
.
Sorry you’ve been poorly. Hope it improves soon.
cherry sorry about Wind in the Willows. Is the princess and the pea any good for tonight?
eglantine a farm shop that delivers cake. Sounds good to me. Hope you enjoy it.?
Back later folks.
Well, I’m having a elevenses with the Victoria sponge that the farm shop delivered!
I am very appreciative of their cake making because a) I cannot get flour and sugar b) I cannot bake for toffee so it would be a disappointment even if I could get them.
It’s pouring with rain here and I am happy because the garden really needs it. I may even have radishes to eat next week after this good soaking ??
So glad I missed the bedtime story last night Doodle, I don't know why but I never did like that book. There were a lot of books we were made to read in school, that being one, that I didn't like, everyone else seemed to enjoy them. I used to rename the books I didn't like, eg. Wind in the Willows became Toad in the hole and James and the giant peach got renamed as James and the giant bore quest ?.
Mamissimo I hope you start to feel better soon.?
I feel another coffee coming on and I'm even tempted to have elevenses, well it's not long past eleven! I will refrain however as it's all too easy to end up deciding to have twelves and ones and twos etc ?
Did I miss anything? I was floored by cellulitis yesterday and have just slept for 17 hours! Wonderous GP got the antibiotics to me in under an hour.
I staggered downstairs this morning to find the house in disarray....my DH and DS seem to have had a party in my absence which strikes me as very unfair!
I may miss the briefing and the news today so please can someone count the number of times the word ‘ramp’ is used...I play spot the Ramp a lot these days.
Sainsbugs coming shortly so I’ll go back to bed so that DH can deal with it ?
bradfordlass I could have done with you today ?
Hot chocolate for anyone who’s still awake.
Tonight’s bedtime story is Wind in the Willows. Once upon a time ? ?
Sunlover How romantic, that's my happy news for today.
Doodle I used to be the "lettuce washer & dryer" when I was a child.
Took the required leaves off the lettuce first, into a bowl of cold water then into a clean tea towel.
This was whirled round my head and all the water flew off. I had to keep whirling until all the lettuce was dry.
It was great fun.
Glad you are doing the hot chocolate tonight Doodle, not sure mine came up to scratch ?
sunlover thank you for sharing your happy news with us here. You must be delighted.?
gramaretto what a nice friend you have. So glad you’ve got your coffee.
grandmafrench I must have missed news of your DHs birthday tomorrow. Hope he has a good day.
cherry my goodness it’s such a palaver when going out to the shops. We have been lucky in that our son went and got our prescriptions yesterday. I have been so careful washing all our deliveries. I don’t think I will ever forget trying to wash and dry a bag of lettuce ?
I have spoken to two or three people today (on the phone). Trying to keep up with friends, family and neighbours to check all is well. Some are coping better than others.
We are lucky we have GN for company. I for one, certainly enjoy chatting with you lot in our comfy jail.
Don’t wish anyone to have to stay in but you lot are good company.
Thank you for doing the hot chocolate last night cherry. I am a bit more with it tonight and as long as I don’t overdo the ? I will be back to put the milk on later ?
That is indeed happy news Sunlover, what a wonderful thing to look forward to. ❤️
I hope you get your spaghetti next time round Doodle, you can virtually have some of mine but I don't know how substantial it will be.
I know you meant it affectionately when you called me a rascal Carillion and you've made me
. Hope you didn't think I took it the wrong way when I posted the wrong monkey. This is the one I meant to post ?. I guess I can be quite mischievous, like a little ?.
Happy birthday ? to your DH for tomorrow Grandmafrench. I'm sure he'll love his banoffee pie.
We've just enjoyed our shepherds pie. Apart from making that and doing some of my non-artistic artwork I've done b....r all today
.
My WP did have to go out to get his meds, there was no other way. He was first in the queue and the pharmacy assistant (who has worked there for years) opened the door and handed it to him. He came in the house, stripped & showered (again) and put the clothes he had worn into the washing machine all before I saw him. I do think it was all done pretty safely but we will make sure we are not in that position again.
CherryChezz, rascal is meant affectionately and actually with some admiration! Also, very glad to hear your delivery arrived as you'd hoped.
Sunlover, what lovely news in these quiet times. Xx
Grandmafrench happy birthday for your DH tomorrow.
I hope enjoys his Bannofie treat. Xxx
Lovely news Sunlover
My daughters partner celebrates his 40th birthday today. They had planned a big party for friends and family tomorrow night. All cancelled. What we didn’t know was that he was going to propose at the party. Instead he got down on one knee today. My husband knew as he had phoned to ask permission.
Lovely to have some happy news and something to look forward to.
My angel delivery friend phoned to say she had left 2 croissants at my kitchen door. I confessed that we had run out of coffee so away she went and brought us more and some tea.
We really have everything we need but our family and it's a big BUT
Cheery I am glad your order arrived
and Dreamcatcher I am with you on rats. Shudder . It's said to be a conditioned response but I believe my phobia is in my DNA.
My DGPs were farmers and I can remember being shown the big mouse in the trap so maybe it stems from that.
Well done on getting a slot dreamcatcher. Glad you are getting deliveries. We have just bagged one from Sainsbury’s for next week too.
cherry I ordered spaghetti but it didn’t come . I have enough for one meal but will have to try and order it again.
grammaretto sorry you’ve run out of coffee. Hope new supplies arrive soon.
sickof sounds as though you had an enjoyable day doing just what you wanted. How lovely ?
carillion I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a mole actually. Thank goodness. But I know who to come to if I do ?. 2 floors up it’s unlikely I think ?
Sickofweddingcake that sounds like an interesting idea for a thread, you should start one. I won't give all mine here, except for - I can let my hair grow, not sure
it's necessarily a good idea but I hate visiting the hairdresser's (childhood trauma) ?
I've never been called a rascal before Carillion, I think I quite like it ?. I seem to be collecting an array of monikers, Cheery from Doodle and several varients of my user name from you ?. At this rate if I changed my user name it would be very long ?.
My lovely personal delivery came just after 9pm last night. The only thing missing was tagliatelle but I had spaghetti as a substitute so now I'm a very grateful and happy ?.
My man has many times removed something like 50 mole hills in a session Carillion and although yes the soil is super good for gardeners it is sheer hard work and sadly the ground was never restored to its old level self.
A pain in the neck for sure!!
My husband has never fully recovered either!
For these Supermarket slots it seems "he whom riseth early may win out!!!"
Just by mere chance we managed to get a Tesco slot very early today,as promised we rang around our neighbours and between us I think we bagged the lot for next week!!!!
A lot of happy......and hopefully well stocked flats to come!
The sunshine and its pleasant outlook has deserted us this day,yes some light rainfall, and indeed the plants and greenery are welcoming every drop.
Grammaretto I am afraid although brought up on a farm I positively HATE rats. When just a tot of around three I opened a large cupboard door and this rat.........the size of a pregnant cat!!(at least it seemed so to a tiny child)jumped out at me.O f course I now realise it was probably more scared of me than I was of it!!!
But ever since I have this deep rooted fear.So please give me gamboling lambs any day!!
Back to counting sheep for me!
Carillion01 ah the joy of country living!
DD had a run in with some rats in a haybale this week. They are very rural and it isn't all gambolling lambs.
I am missing country walks as well as my DGC Please will we be able to see them again quite soon.
