The Lockdown Gang - not setting foot outside!

mamissimo there was mention in the papers today by a doctor who thinks they may have a vaccine by September but I expect it’s all guesswork at the moment.

I think it’s best not to dwell on the rumours or worst case scenarios. We should just take each day as it comes. We can’t stay in for ever and they won’t expect us to. I think they will start by letting younger people out and work up to those with more serious illnesses. I would be happier if I felt the young people were able to go back to schools and shops could start opening again.
Things seem to be changing in other countries so we just need to hope that a vaccine or some form of testing that will help us will be found soon. So many people in so many countries are working on this we just have to wait and see what they come up with.
We are doing our bit by staying in. Let’s hope it works and it helps everyone. Sleep tight all x

Hello fellow inmates. I haven't posted here for a week. I think I just went "snap" a couple of days after my friend died and have only posted on the morning thread or non personal threads so I could avoid admitting that I have been feeling s....y.
I still feel flat but I know some of that is because of this pesky lockdown. I shouldn't moan on that front since we are all in the same boat. My vibrant niece (only a few years in age between us) who is working on a total system since she's a teacher tells me that she's going 'stir crazy', so much so that she and her husband have even started a jigsaw! If you knew my niece you'd know that was a sign of miserable despair for her since she's rather go white water rafting, skydive or go up in a hot balloon.
Makes me realise that it's okay to feel the way I do.
Hope tomorrow brings a brighter day ?.

I was looking at Nicola and thought the opposite, Marydoll ! I thought her stylist was missing and her hair looked uncoiffed and natural - so there you go!

Feel winded by this but although I see the logic of his thinking I don’t think I can quite believe him ..... I will give up watching the teatime doom fest for a few days and just watch a shorter news.

Grammaretto, if I'm in a hurry to get a photo from my phone to my PC, I email it to myself from my phone and open up the email on my PC and lo and behold there is the photo.
Or, you can use a USB cable, plugged into your phone and and then put the other end into your PC. You will then be able to access all the photos on your phone. Takes minutes.

May sounds not too bad to me, Carillion as 23rd June is my proposed release date. I was checking my credit card statement today and realised that I haven't stepped out of the door, since the 13th March, when my GP grounded me. . I'm saving a fortune!

Listening to Nicola Sturgeon today, I think I'll be lucky to be out by Christmas!! That is, if I do what I'm told.
DH reassuringly told me, he thinks that we will be allowed out in stages and I will be in the last cohort, not what I want to hear. He is such a cheery soul!

Thank goodness the weather has been decent, but rather chilly here in Glasgow.
I have pottered about the garden, sowing lettuce and rocket. it's amazing how you can stretch a very small bag of compost.
I never thought I would see the day, when I lusted after a new bag of compost.

Just a thought about Nicola Sturgeon. I badly need my hair cut as it needs cut every five weeks, it's so thick and wavy.
How come, Nicola's is always perfect and looks newly cut, even although the hairdressers are closed?

Carillion those primroses are just beautiful.

I haven't worked out how to get a photo from my phone onto my computer without at least half an hour of faff. Perhaps that's something I could learn during lockdown......yawn!

DH is cooking supper. I hadn't thought of a barbeque. I wonder if trying to do what we used to do without company and in this new reality would just add to the sadness.

I had a difficult moment today when a man with 3 small kids in tow, rang our doorbell. I shouted down from an upstairs window assuming it was a delivery but he asked if it was OK to play in our garden! I was so surprised that I said I suppose so but that we were shielding. His excuse was that he said he used to live nearby and wanted to show his DD the view from our garden. I had never see him before and he was looking about at everything and asking if we wanted our own stuff!.
They didn't stay long but when I rang my DD later on, she was horrified. He was casing the joint, said she. Well he may have been but at least he rang the bell.

I am missing everyone too. I hope you are OK today BradfordLass and grannyactivist's in-laws.

Good evening Lockdown Gang. The latest news from President Macron is lockdown here in France is extended to 11th May. Deep breath, all is achievable. I think he's got it right and I might learn how to speak understandable French and if any dear friends can help...how to crochet.

Easter over now ( probably for the best) and back to cooler weather. Are you all bloated with Easter Egg chocs?

Am sending Mr L on a shed clearing mission tomorrow...we all need to preserve our personal space ...or we may run amok with an axe.

Well I can’t say I have done much today! Spent a long time on the phone with Sainsbury’s trying to sort out an order we have with them that the payment wouldn’t go through for. I was on the phone for ages and thought I would never get through but finally made contact with a very nice young man who sorted it out for us. Phew! We have food coming tomorrow.

I don’t think the lockdowns will necessarily end soon but take heart all we’ve already done 3 weeks and some of you have done more. If it means we stay safe and help the medical services in our countries then it’s an important job we are doing. Let’s not forget that. Keep calm and carry on as they say ?
I have always wanted to do water colouring too carillion . I may get round to having a go sometime. I have got some paints at the back of a cupboard somewhere but at the moment I am having a go at appliqué. Never done any before but it seems to be going well so far.
newnanny we had lamb over Easter too. Made a nice change. Enjoy your FaceTime with your sisters.
grannyactivist I think lots of families are finding it difficult not to see each other or to get a hug. I know I miss my DGC. Although teenagers now they still give their old granny a hug and I miss that. Just hope this doesn’t last a minute more than it has to.

The sun has come out after a very chilly morning.

I may go and take a wander round our estate.
It should take all of five minutes but I am thankful and mindful of those indoors without a garden or balcony.

I have a FaceTime date with my sisters this evening at 7pm. Something to look forward to. We had our Easter lamb dinner yesterday and are hoping for a bit of sunshine so we can bbq in garden on our own. @carillion01 last Easter we spent 2 weeks in our French house in Brittany and I was re membering there were primroses growing wild everywhere, it looked so pretty. We were coming again this year but had to cancel. We are longing to come back to beautiful Brittany again.

Hello Lockdown Gang.

Will be watching President Macron tonight in his latest address to the nation. We anticipate further lockdown until at least early May with maybe the added requirement that any rare visit outdoors for essential journeys needs a face mask. All good as far as I'm concerned. French medics like those wonderful NHS troops are doing a wonderful job ...as are our stern gendarmes!!

In the best Lockdown Gang spirit will be looking for something else maybe skills-wise to learn in the weeks ahead. Will pursue learning Breton French, will try to be better at being kind to commentators on TV that I can't agree with.

I've always been a want-to-be-able to person...a watercolour painter is never going to happen, I can quilt and muck in with fabric projects all day long but have tried endlessly to crochet. I'm rubbish. However, this is hopefully a lighthearted contribution to this great thread. Now getting a bit rambling. Have a good Easter Monday fellow gang members. Xxxx

I don't go out even for exercise as I'm very high risk, but I remain quite happy to stay at home for as long as it takes; my parents-in-law though are finding it very difficult. They live just a five minute walk away from me and today they used their exercise period to drop an Easter card into the porch, waving at me through the window. When they were halfway down the path again I opened the door to call a greeting and my mother-in-law was obviously finding it very hard not to be able to come and hug me. She phoned me when she got home and confessed that she was very emotional and finding the day difficult, we always get together at some stage during the Easter holiday and she felt very sad that this year we can't.

Like other posters here, today is proving something of a challenge emotionally and it's only 10am!

It won't last, I know that and I'll revert to my usual cheerful self but sometimes the cares of the world just get to me.
