Lockdown has worked because, against all expectation, there turned out to be many more Accepters and Sufferers than Resisters (the three pandemic personalities identified by King’s College), in the Uk

From an article in the Spectator
Which group would you put yourself in?

Accepter

(Still, despite seeing photographs today of young men, as stupid as they are handsome, parading along Broadway Market clutching pints of beer and mingling with crowds of other equally stupid, mainly male people.)

NotSpaghetti - that’s interesting, thanks for highlighting that and hopefully Annecan can shed a bit more light on the demographics.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 03-May-20 10:27:06

Accepter - just grin and bear it!

jenpax Sun 03-May-20 10:25:16

Accepter BUT anti Brexit, Labour voter too. Also in my 50’s so don’t consider myself to be in the older range

Iam an accepter too. Miss my social groups and family but, thankful to be alive, that it's happened at this time of year when walking and gardening are more enjoyable due to nicer weather.

Accepter: my husband has been isolating since December because of a 2nd transplant planned for early March. It's been postponed because he is doing well on the medication. BUT we are so used to living with the danger of an ordinary cold/cough leading to pneumonia/sepsis and death with his condition that isolation is our norm since 2015.

He misses his daily walks (well I miss HIS daily walks ????)

The worst time for me is on once a week steroid day....??

Annecan - not sure where you got the Brexit info from?

I've now read the article in the Independent, the actual Ipsos Mori poll data and a study by Kings and none of them mention Brexit.

Please can you send the link as obviously you've read it somewhere.

Accepter, No point in complaining and we need to make the best of things.

Davida1968 Sun 03-May-20 10:22:11

Ps - AcceptEr!

Jo67 Sun 03-May-20 10:20:30

Accepter but not Brexiter or Conservative.

Davida1968 Sun 03-May-20 10:20:25

Acceptor.

annecordelia Sun 03-May-20 10:20:05

An accepter, definitely.

Nanna58 Sun 03-May-20 10:18:20

On the face of it an accepter , have abided by all the rules. But inside I am a rampant resister, and find it very difficult to enjoy the lockdown as some people are.

Grandmabeach Sun 03-May-20 10:17:09

Definitely an accepter. Missing the family of course but enjoying doing what I want to do. Even if lock down is lifted thus week I am not rushing out until I know it is safe.

lynn56 Sun 03-May-20 10:16:18

Sufferer

Froglady Sun 03-May-20 10:15:35

Acceptor

pat9 Sun 03-May-20 10:12:23

Accepter and enjoying it

Muzzybear Sun 03-May-20 10:08:49

Acceptor definitely. I am Australian and we have been very lucky that our elected officials for once acted in our best interests. It has been tough for sure - but living sure beats the heck out of the other option! As a 68 year old woman I am in the "vulnerable" category, have missed a few events I am sad about but in the larger scheme of things I am still here. For that I am grateful! And I love the theme " We are all in this together" because we are!!!! Warmest regards to all my fellow grans xxx

EllanVannin Sun 03-May-20 10:07:15

It has to be accepted doesn't it ? Even though it's caused, and is causing a huge economic worry for the country which is very concerning. Although it's better not to look too far ahead.

cornergran Sun 03-May-20 09:59:48

Accepter but no, not enjoying it at all, too many family worries

BBbevan Sun 03-May-20 09:56:07

Accepter Quite enjoy it really

SirChenjin Sun 03-May-20 09:38:28

Presumably the older generation don’t have to worry about jobs, mortgages, feeding young families and so on so they can be more accepting. Older generation more likely to have underlying health conditions so more likely to be shielded. Young people are more likely to vote Labour and didn’t vote for Brexit in nearly the same numbers as the older generation so the results are not at all surprising. Sufferers- 44%; 48% accepting; 9% resisting.

Sparkling Sun 03-May-20 09:34:50

Accepter, no point being anything else, just make the best of it. I have caught up on a lot of jobs and still have a long list. I love the quiet.

Grannybags Sun 03-May-20 09:34:20

Accepter

Bathsheba Sun 03-May-20 09:26:35

Oops, accepter, not acceptor.
