I doubt the virus can hang about on knitting for any length of time, so your friend could just leave it out somewhere for a couple of days before using it if they are at all concerned.

Hi Dawn I've posted knitted gifts during lockdown (one for a new baby and the other for a 100 year old!) Both items were happily received because we are a symptom free household and wash hands etc plus I carefully washed each knitted gift before posting.

That was just over a month ago and both recipients are hale and hearty.

I recently sent some little knitted things for Gdcs - my dd just ‘quarantines’ any parcels for a couple of days, same as we do.

I’m sure your recipient will be both sensible and very pleased.

Not sure where this quarantining of parcels started up. Thee is no need - keeps being said in all official advice. Wash your hands after bringing parcel into home, wash your hands after taking off the cardboard or whatever packing and disposing of that in normal bin - and that is all there is.

Why were you washing your hands each time you did some knitting? Unless you have lots of people in your home most of the time .

Do think people are misunderstanding so much about this (and other) virus. Do wonder how many illnesses are going to spreading due to this excess of disinfectant and bleaching that has been going on.
