So angry about this witch hunt

Watching Dominic Cummings being grilled on tv by journalists Asking the same questions over and over. It is obvious from the guidelines which he read out that he was not breaking them.
His family and especially his child must come first. He did what he thought was best.
Leave the poor man alone.

Well, it was very busy out when I went to work today; much more than it has been, so we'll see.

Marydoll Mon 25-May-20 23:59:03

Thank you, MissAdventure.
DH and I are really angry, not so much for us, ( we are reasonably safe and resigned to the situation), but for those whose loved ones have died alone, with no chance to comfort them nor say goodbyes and those families struggling with Covid, having to look after children at the same time.

I'm astounded by his arrogance and lack of remorse. He has done so much damage.

We are concerned that now, people will take the justification for his actions as carte blanche to ignore the regulations and go with their instincts.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 23:58:28

I'm also really cross about all the "difficult circunstances" Cummings supposedly dealt with, because I watched my girl coping with horrendous ones, with her two boys, as a single parent.

I feel totally insulted by that.

Callistemon Mon 25-May-20 23:54:14

The thing is, maddyone we are getting on with our lives, but in a different and, in some cases, a very constrained way, whereas Cummings thought it was fine to travel around the country, break the rules and act with impunity.

We have not seen a relative with dementia who cannot understand what is happening. My relative has not seen her daughter who has learning difficulties but lives, with support, in a sheltered flat.

Children have died without a relative there to hold their hand.

We understand The Rules.
Cummings ignored them and did what he pleased.

You bet I am angry.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 23:53:24

Are you angry, Gaga, or is that a daft question?

GagaJo Mon 25-May-20 23:50:55

A witch hunt is the hounding of an innocent person.

Cummings did what is being reported. Therefore not a witch hunt.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 23:49:11

I wondered how you had felt about it, Marydoll, because I have seen that you've been quite poorly. flowers

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 23:46:12

I have watched people commenting how lock down has been bad for their mental health (rightly so)

Well, having a frightening, difficult time getting to work, having to send my grandson to school so I can work (he hasn't had any time off at all) has affected my mental health.

So, I intend to express how I feel, just as everyone else has been encouraged to do on here for the last months.

Marydoll Mon 25-May-20 23:41:37

As someone who is shielding, may I join your Angry Brigade?
Does DC think we are all mugs? ?

Callistemon Mon 25-May-20 23:35:13

I'm a member too, merlotgran and MissA.
Very much so.

I am not curtain twitching , I have a family member I really need to see 100 miles away but I haven't been able to go due to The Rules.
In fact, I am still unable to go.

Marydoll Mon 25-May-20 23:35:08

Already over 625,000 people have signed the Change.Org petition, calling for him to be sacked.

Not everyone feels sorry for him.

merlotgran Mon 25-May-20 23:31:53

I'm a member of the Angry Brigade as well.

I don't like being taken for a mug.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 23:27:24

I certainly don't need to stop.
I'm angry, and it's justified, as far as I'm concerned.

maddyone Mon 25-May-20 23:25:06

And I was told by some Gransnetters to stop curtain twitching, in a thread I started about five builders working in a very small garden with no social distancing at all, just immediately opposite my house.
Okay Gransnetters, we can’t have it both ways, so everyone needs stop curtain twitching, metaphorically, and get on with your own lives.

Callistemon Mon 25-May-20 23:22:36

Oh gosh, sorry!!

I did have a Specsavers appointment but it was cancelled.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 23:21:42

Hypocrisy at it's finest award goes to Cummings, by a country mile.

Callistemon Mon 25-May-20 23:21:36

Apparently we are not at all envious
envy

lemongrove Mon 25-May-20 23:18:03

Of course Callistemon Wales and Scotland are different at the moment, but hopefully it won’t be long before you will be able to travel about.?

maddyone Mon 25-May-20 23:17:29

Totally agree with lemongrove in her post at 17.44.
The press are determined to have his scalp. This morning they were outside his house, hounding him and absolutely no social distancing at all. The press were literally side by side. Hypocrisy at its finest!

SueDonim Mon 25-May-20 23:13:15

I think we’ve still got a small rocking horse in the attic. I’m going to use my judgment as to whether I can ride him down to Durham on 15th June to browse in the newly-reopened shops.

GGumteenth Mon 25-May-20 23:10:53

Oh dear, Callistemon, that's GG Umteenth. I know it looks as you put it, it took me by surprise when I saw how it came out, but you really don't need to make me feel any older than the lack of hairdresser does sad

Callistemon Mon 25-May-20 23:04:24

Yes, but she is very old so we don't ride her now.

Callistemon Mon 25-May-20 23:03:46

Gumteeth!
Surely you must realise I am referring to Wales or Scotland from what I posted?

No, we can't lemongrove, unfortunately.
They are still stopping cars, interrogating drivers and sending them home again and threatening fines.

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-20 23:02:45

grin

lemongrove Mon 25-May-20 23:01:36

I hope Peggy is a horse?
