What is the matter with everyone why can’t children who are at very little risk of coronavirus not go back to school.
Surely it would be better for everyone those that don’t want to be in contact can self isolate. I am fortunate that my grandson is in yr 6 so has gone back but I feel desperate for all the others and those parents who can’t work with no childcare. I feel we are bringing up a generation who will be scared of everything Sorry for the rant but don’t think I’ve ever felt so strongly about anything Show me a March and I’ll be there!

growstuff quote [ Unfortunately, it is absolutely obvious that some comments show no understanding. ]End Quote.

Once again a quote from someone in teaching states all that is wrong in the "Education Establishment".

No one they feel can have any knowledge or understanding of education or teaching other than those who work in the sector. All others who dare to voice an opinion on the performance of Britains schools throughout this crisis speak as "totally ignorant persons" due to their lack of insight into the sector, and therefore should not speak at all.

However, through all the finger-wagging and diversionary tactics what all outside the Education Establishment witness is three months after this Covid-19 Crisis and lockdown began the vast majority of Britains School pupils are still not being given an opportunity to resume full education.

We see no real reasons being offered why (for example) the HSE has not been approached to assist in the problems of the schools.

We see no real reasons being offered why the teaching profession has not organised jointly to bring the above about.

We see no real reasons being offered as to why the Schools cannot make better use of their space by organising a double shift system.

We see no real reasons being offered as to why as in other times of crisis the "Education Establishment" do not use the church, local council and other commercial facilities to expand their learning space.

What all outside that "Education Establishment" do witness is a teaching profession content to see those they are supposed to be responsible to for education receive a very irregular, and in that, often poor quality online learning service while blaming all others for the fact that matters are not better.

Excuses, Excuses and nothing else is what Britains parents receive for not being offered anywhere near a reasonable standard of education for their children three months after this Covid-19 situation began.

However, who are they to grow angry and criticise, when they are not part of the "Education Establishment", how could they possibly understand, so some on this forum seem firmly to believe.

*Jane, Callistemon* Neither of YOU are incompetent of course! Quite the opposite! but we all knew people whose only ability at school was to be the class buffoon, so they used that to divert attention. Some of them went into showbiz, some into politics.

And they probably earned far more than the rest of us.

Ellianne Sat 20-Jun-20 16:40:32

And some of the brightest became criminals!

What seems to be proved in the US is that those states which relaxed their distancing controls because they didn't have many cases, now, a few weeks later, have very high figures.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-53088354

It's not really surprising, though, that cases are on the rise again in the US, as people were out on the streets and many were ignoring any idea of distancing.
The numbers did not seem to have gone down appreciably either; easing of the rules was more to do with the economy there rather any other reason.

I like making people laugh Elegran. Sorry to hear that it means I'm incompetent.

I was going to say the same but I thought I might get some predictable answers

?

Hmm, I was always taught that she is the cat’s mother!?

Ellianne Sat 20-Jun-20 13:15:17

Especially when faced with a fair amount of ‘know all’ posters.
Yes lemongrove especially when faced with one vociferous poster @12.51 who seems convinced Jennifer and I are the same person and uses the singular pronoun "she" to address us both!!??

Oh dear, the waggy fingers are really out today and being very strict. I'm guessing "you don't know what you're talking about and you have no understanding" are stock teacher comments when they can't come up with any real empathy and substance. I am always willing to praise a good point made and am prepared to look at comments from a different perspective, but some here can't wait to put others down straightaway in a very condescending school ma'am way. However, I will carry on listening and learning and just ignore the rest.

Yes, that’s the best thing to do Elliane sometimes on here.
Especially when faced with a fair amount of ‘know all’ posters.
Sadly though, they really don’t know all.

I imagine it is because Johnson is a desperate people pleaser Elegran.

I haven't seen any evidence of this.....now, T May really was a people pleaser.
You have to do what you think is the right choice as PM but there is also the fact that pragmatism and practicality come into it as well.

I actually think that Headteachers did NOT know when students would be back, and if "Jennifer" and Ellianne knew anything about teachers , she would acknowledge that they are very very keen for the education of their students to continue.
Teachers are intelligent and resourceful ( how insulting do you want to be?) but they are not magicians to " make it happen".
To dismiss democratic protests as " idiotic" and principles as " silly" , shows a narrowminded and biased view....even though you have every right to express it.

Elegran Sat 20-Jun-20 12:46:04

On HIGNFY he did his bumbling comedian act to perfection - making people laugh is one of the compensatory behaviours of those who feel (and possibly are!) incompetent. Now he should be acting as a statesman, weighing up data from his experts, and making steady and balanced decisions on behalf of the nation he is responsible for.

He wanted the top job. Now that he has it, he needs to do it.

I’m still waiting to return to work bored and fed up I’m a nursery teacher and haven’t got enough in my room for me to return. So the government are laying my wages 80% hope this continues till I can return, as I’m desperate to get back the kids can go down to the beach and play out but not go to school what a stupid system!

Future decisions should be a little more coherent then. Still screwing the customers though.

growstuff Sat 20-Jun-20 12:26:26

To be fair Elegran there's a new adviser in Number 10 who made money out of organising nooky in a knocking shop.

Elegran Sat 20-Jun-20 12:23:22

In the news at the moment, it looks as though Johnson wil be relaxing the 2 metre rule very soon.

Why can't he and his cabinet do all the researching and planning BEFORE they make nationwide announcements? They govern by a series of approximations - state a policy to be followed, then make a U-turn once they hear what the reaction is.

Surely they have plenty of experts who can advise them on what is the best way forward and how a decision to follow that best way will be greeted?

Or is their (his?) main advisor, Cummings, hell-bent on giving inaccurate, unpopular and ill-advised advice at every turn, for some subtle strategy of his own? It certainly succeeds in creating the impression that none of them could organise nooky in a knocking shop!

GagaJo Sat 20-Jun-20 12:05:39

It's a bot. BUT I suspect the thread hasn't entirely gone where they had hoped it would.

Elegran Sat 20-Jun-20 11:25:28

Does the HSE have more power than the Prime Minister? "the teachers union wrote directly to Boris Johnson as Prime Minister in regard to the rules and regulations applicable the education." bypassing the HSE. Of course, we know that the PM loses letters that he doesn't like.

Where are you, 12rg12ja?
You have had more than one or two responses!

Elegran Sat 20-Jun-20 11:06:36

If "frustration and anger are rapidly growing against all in the teaching profession as was acknowledged by the Education Secretary yesterday." then at the head of the target is the Education Secretary and his band of brothers, a lot of them privately educated in schools with classes of 15 to 18 and with unlimited finances. Those in charge of a national education service delivered by local authorities should be those either educated or teaching (preferably both) in state schools.

For some time frustration and anger have been rapidly growing WITHIN the teaching profession and those trying to keep up with and implement the frequently changing policies and strategies decreed from above and outside.

Perhaps our resident H&E expert will get his revolution from the rank and file teachers after all - if they could only get time and stamina to do it. But they won't - because the net losers in all the upheaval would be a cohort of children, and that is the one thing that teachers will not risk.
