Our local Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust reserve opened for the first time since lockdown today. Bookings had to be made in advance to limit numbers and I have to say everything had been thought out very well - a one way system all around the reserve, limited numbers in hides with spaced out seating and some hides closed, latches removed from gates and hand sanitiser everywhere. I was quite giddy at the thought of actually going somewhere not entirely local but also a bit apprehensive and went armed with masks and gloves but all was fine.. There was a good mix of people: families with small children, older people like us and serious birders. Everyone obeyed the rules and we had a lovely time. When we got home I tried to rebook for next week but it was already full, despite bookings only opening this morning! Now I'm itching to go somewhere else...…..
