...who actually have, or had, Covid19? Not just people who say they’re ‘ sure they had it’, but definite cases. I only know of two, one who contracted it in hospital following admission for a broken hip, and another who died in a care home.

Please try not to drift ‘ off topic’, as I’m really interested to hear your answers to the question.

Possibly my DS, her DH and perhaps one or two of her DD's were very ill with a virus right at the start of March. A lady in my book group and a colleague of my Dh had the virus. The father of our local Post Office and shopkeepers caught Covid-19 and died. The whole village was distraught as he was a much loved man.

Otherwise, not many people known to us have had the virus.

Two of my friends husband and wife both in their 50s had it both ok now my daughters mil tested positive a month ago had no symptoms and hasn't been unwell with it only tested as her friend had mild symptoms

Two neighbours one caught it in hospital after being admitted with a broken ankle and a friend of my sister who had a compromised immune system died very quickly after contracting it. The last lady is someone who was shielding and never left the house at all, hence my concern on another thread about deliveries to the door.

1 poorly 88 year man in hospital.

@rocketstop: quite understand how scary it is. I'm a little older than you and I had it in March. I fear my lungs have been permanently affected. I had no real health problems before this, I am slim, fit (was), don't drink or smoke, have a healthy lifestyle.

4.
Friend age 60, very mild, didn't know she had had it until antibody tested where she works in NHS, lives in London. Sister in law, age 73, very disabled living in care home in Norwich, tested positive, no symptoms.
Distant relative in 70's died.
Young relative, mid 30's, was in hospital for a week and on oxygen but now recovering well.

None at all where I live. Somebody where my daughter worked, over 20 miles from where I am, got it and died. He was in his 30s, quite overweight and had more than a few health problems but he’s the only one I know and it’s more probable that he died with it and not of it.

Sadly, myself and my husband, this is week seven since we tested positive and it is still ongoing. It has been the most scariest and terrible illness and it has completely taken us down, and as we are late fifties, we weren't particularly 'At risk'.

SueDoku Mon 22-Jun-20 15:00:30

Difficult to say when testing is still being underused. My friend was very ill (cough, upset tummy, loss of taste & smell) three weeks ago - she lives alone so rang 111 who sent out an ambulance and she was taken to hospital, where they examined her and said she had 'a virus' but they didn't want to admit her as if it wasn't Covid19, she'd probably catch it on the ward - and no, they couldn't test her for it, as they were only testing patients they admitted...!! shock
They sent her home - telling her to isolate for two weeks 'just in case' and after a few days when she felt dreadful, she's slowly recovering - but she pointed out that if she'd died, she wouldn't be counted as a Covid19 death, because she hadn't been tested...
(Oh, and this was at the time when we were all being told that we MUST have a test if we developed any of the above symptoms...!!! How many more were refused a test?

Six. The DS & DiL of neighbours, early on, who came back from a sking holiday and were sitting beside an Italian gent who later tested positive. Also my dear Dad, a very fit and able 88 year old, just a couple of weeks before his 89th birthday in April .

SuzannahM Mon 22-Jun-20 14:45:34

No one among immediate family and friends but the parents of my BiL both had it, he survived but she died. Both in their early eighties but don't know about their health (Durham).

In South Wales my SiL came home from work to say that her boss had been hospitalized and he died two weeks later - only about 50 I think.

A colleague of my OH had it (Surrey), also early 50s. He survived but has lung and kidney damage and is still undergoing treatment two months later, probably will be for life. His wife got it from him, but I don't think she was seriously ill.

jmsburnham Mon 22-Jun-20 14:41:06

16 in total - Both of my daughters and their partners - one works in A and E. My ex husband and his wife. 5 friends from WI . 2 neighbours. All recovered ok.
3 elderly relatives in care homes all sadly passed away.

Pat123 Mon 22-Jun-20 14:37:53

One friend in early 50's living in N. Italy who recovered; one nurse at a SW London hospital aged 34 who died; 2 of my friend's children, one a doctor in Sussex in his 30's and the other in her 20's working outside London, who have both recovered.

None that I know personally here in Portugal although we had a circular from the village junta to say that one lady in the village had been confirmed as having it so she and her husband were quarentined at home.
My friend here has a granddaughter in England who works in a care home and she was confirmed to have it a few weeks ago. Other members of the family were tested but all were negative. Here in our council area which covers a large area there have been 96 cases confirmed since the beginning but only 8 people currently have it. Portugal has done more testing per capita than most other countries. Because I am attending hospital I haven been tested twice so far and both negative. So I am keeping well away from everywhere to keep it that way.

DD1, who is an occupational therapist in a hospital and DH who is in a nursing home. DD recovered, and DH too, though it has left him weaker than he was before. I don't know the actual number, but some of the other nursing home residents and a number of the staff also had it, and there were deaths among the residents.

sharon103 Mon 22-Jun-20 14:11:15

My friend's two aunties died with it recently. Both on the same day and in their nineties. One with symptoms, one not.
When life gets back to some kind of normality and we can mingle again we will more than likely hear of people we know that have had it.

Thisismyname1953 Mon 22-Jun-20 14:06:35

I don’t know a single person who has had it but quite a few of my daughter’s colleagues have had it ( front line nurse)

Ev1951 Mon 22-Jun-20 13:55:36

Forgot to add that I live in London
