Spain has abandoned it's two week ideation for travellers entering the country with testing to be done instead. This means UK holiday makers will have a free for all after a test has been done and awaiting results. Not sure just how efficient and quick the testing system is there.Probably better than we have. Obviously Spain relies heavily on tourism. Should UK adopt the same system instead of this ludicrous one of filling in a form and then supposedly self isolating for two weeks. Approx 100 checks a week to be undertaken to ensure compliance!

My DM lives in Spain (Mallorca). They are all obviously conflicted there - the vast majority of jobs and the economy depend on tourism, but they don't want the virus to take off again.
They have been told that tourists will wear face masks at all times and social distance. Can't see that happening myself!

We're hopefully heading off to our villa in the Canaraies. I must find out when we can go there

The test sounds better than the improbable quarantine imposed in the U.K. But as I said on other posts, mask wearing seems to be universally accepted in the Mediterranean countries.

I did read that the government were considering using a test system for people coming to the UK which would make sense.

We aren’t travelling abroad this year as it means flying, and that is a definite no in such a confined area. Think of the airports too?.

We have postponed until September 2021, hopefully fully protected with a vaccine ?

I d love to see the Brits after wearing masks for two weeks sunburnt to the nose then white ever after ???

BlueBelle Sun 21-Jun-20 13:43:11

I really wouldn’t hold your breath for a vaccine Wwm2
any vaccine rushed through I wouldn’t trust My friend has had the shingles Vaccine (as I have too) but has just had shingles so badly in her face and head

It seems my ex is flying to Spain in a few weeks. He’s thrilled at the cheap flight. His sons are cross with him taking this risk.
When they mentioned quarantining on his return he says “no I won’t have to as I haven’t got the virus.” ??

Oh BlueBelle … how awful for you friend!
I take it you don't think the shingles vaccine is very reliable then?

Here (Denmark) you can be tested before re-entering the country, if you choose to go abroad.

If masks are made compulsory in Spain people will be fined for not wearing them.

In Germany you have to wear a mask in shops, on public transport in taxis and libraries. If not, you are asked to leave.

Grandetante great helpful ideas from our European neighbours!
