Hi all. This is our new thread for those who have been and may still be shielding. We will carry posting regardless of whether or not we are in lockdown.
Jeeves is in the kitchen opening the bubbly.
I have plumped up all the cushions in our new abode and look forward to welcoming old and new friends. Feel free to join in.

CherryCezzy Thu 08-Oct-20 21:59:12

Nice dress Grammaretto, you'll look very sophisticated ? I'm too short to wear one like that ?

I love carbonara Mamissimo but I don't envy your kitchen clean up.

I just realised, earlier I said I love sag aloo, which I do, and now I've said I love carbonara. You probably think I just love to eat ?

CherryCezzy Thu 08-Oct-20 21:48:50

I think it'll be fine for you to sneak out for Nortsat's party on Saturday Grammaretto as our little gang have virtually shielded together, apart from the odd days out or Nflk's boating or Missedout's canal trips ?
Why do splinters always seem to get under fingernails? How did you get yours?
Ker-ching, only one Grammaretto to 'change a light bulb'? but two electricians ?. Pleased your in-laws have it sorted. What's happening about your ceiling?

It has to be the green dress (I'm with you on the colour Doodle) BradfordLass. It is gorgeous and vibrant and elegant with a freeness of spirit about it. I think that it will suit you ?
Ooh I love sag aloo ?. I love sag paneer too though and takka dhal. I'm glad you enjoyed it and had a lovely evening.
I've never read either of those books but Rubaiyat was in my father's book collection. He had an interesting collection as I recall. I would love to have some of his collection but I don't ?

Panache, Mr P's consultant or hospital or both are well out of order! This should not be happening and must not happen again. Once is frustrating, twice is unacceptable but thrice is indefensible. It irks me that if the shoe is on the other foot with our HA two missed appointments end up in having to be re-referred.

Yes, exactly, people should plan their own kitchen. I've received a lot of help and advice and know only too well from previous experience (the burns) what is safe and what isn't. The Epilepsy Wales charity and one lady in particular are very helpful. It'll work out 'in the wash' ☺️

Rather the dermatology doctor/consultant come to you, so to speak, it's better that she comes to you. A palaver yes, safer yes ? I'll be thinking of you.

Oh Doodle ?. Yuk!! What are we to do with you. At least it blistered which sounds and is horrible but it means that it's the top layers of skin, phew. If the blister runs down the finger please don't wear the plaster so that it immobilises your finger, you don't want your finger to 'freeze up'. I hope it doesn't weep, keep an eye on it. Burns are not nice ?

Hope the rest of the gang are okay.

Grammaretto Thu 08-Oct-20 21:43:31

I think I'll wear this Alexander McQueen number I found in the wardrobe. It matches my great northern diver.

I love the sound of your dinner Mamissimo

Did I tell you I tried to buy a bottle of gin and was told it was too early in the morning! If I was really a heavy drinker I would know that but I was embarrassed having to leave it behind. wink and all eyes were on me over their masks

Mamissimo Thu 08-Oct-20 21:22:56

Good Evening....I'm impressed with the dresses...and I picture Panache in a teal and fuschia Zandra Rhodes chiffon number that she just happened to have saved for such an occasion. Jeeves has been using a gaufering iron on my ruffles this afternoon because he has previous castenet experience and feels that I should move to the music as it stirs my emotions. Mr M has his head in hands....

DS cooked for us tonight and jolly good it was too. He cooked a simple two pot dinner of pasta carbonara and the dishwasher is full! Apparently one saucepan was too small, he likes to break eggs into a bowl individually, he preps everything into little bowls.....he even managed to use two different pepper grinders. I've burned off the calories from dinner clearing up!

Time to slump in front of the box before an early night.
Sleep tight

Grammaretto Thu 08-Oct-20 19:58:20

I think you may be right Doodle about Panache's choice of evening garb.
I don't know what I shall wear. I shall browse my wardrobe later. wink
I don't want to upstage anybody.

I didn't know that about chastity belts having a comeback. What next?

Ouch ouch ouch! What is the matter with us all. Your burn sounds horrid.
I didn't tell you about my splinter did I. I have managed to extract it from under my fingernail and the pain doesn't compare to Missedout or Doodle's pain but it was a bit sore.

Success with the parents' light. The 2nd electrician came all sanitised with clean boots and replaced the light.

We are to be locked down again for 2 weeks from tomorrow but I'm sure I'll be able to slip away on Saturday for the birthday bash Nortsat smile

Doodle Thu 08-Oct-20 19:20:31

That’s a very elegant gown Grammaretto however I think Panache may be thinking of something more modern.
Talking of chastity belts, there was an article in yesterday’s paper about male chastity belts becoming a thing. Apparently they have some sort of internet lock and the fear is that someone could hack the system and lock all of them throughout the world. ?

Doodle Thu 08-Oct-20 19:15:26

I am typing tonight with the hand equivalent of a peg leg. My mind being on other things tonight I picked up a plate forgetting it had been in the oven on a high temperature. I dropped it really quickly but I have burnt my index finger on my right hand and have a sizeable blister. Only myself to blame I was daydreaming. I’ve been clutching an ice pack from the freezer for an hour but as it’s eased a bit I have put a large plaster on it which is a bit like wearing a splint as I can’t bend my finger now. Unfortunately, this means I wasn’t able to do the washing up ?
I do hope Missedout’s thumb is ok.

Doodle Thu 08-Oct-20 14:50:01

Panache you are norty ?. It’s a good job my shimmering, silver sheath dress is a virtual one because at the moment my body wouldn’t fit in it.
You and Grammaretto both see that dress as blue but I see it as pale green. My colour sense is a bit off.
That is very upsetting that MrP’s consultation didn’t go ahead yesterday. If you haven’t taken any action already, I would phone the consultants secretary and get it re arranged soon. If you have a list of questions you certainly need some support and answers. Hope you get some response soon.
Off out for our walk now while the sun is shining.
Missedout I hope your thumb is ok and you are not in too much pain.
Take care all.

Grammaretto Thu 08-Oct-20 14:46:14

I need my eyes tested Panache I thought you said medieval not medical.
So I am now picturing you in medieval dress on Saturday
How about this one with built in chastity belt by the looks of it.

Doodle Thu 08-Oct-20 14:40:35

Late start for me today.
Had a very restless night last nigh. Tinnitus playing at full volume and aching jaw and face plus a headache which I don’t often have. Nothing compared with what the gangsters are going through but I’m not firing on all cylinders today. I get like this at times usually a problem with my neck causes the face and jaw pain. I expect it will last a few days then wear off.
Bradfordlass the dinner does sound nice. 8 is a nice number. Enough for a conversation but not too many so you can’t hear what’s being said.
The Dean was talking about his visit to NZ some years ago and the Maori people and where they came from and praying for all the people of NZ. To be honest my memory is so bad that most things go in one ear and out the other.
How exciting helping you choose an outfit for the party. I did like the white one but when I saw the long Indian style dress I just thought wow. I love it. I think it’s you.?
Grammaretto ouch to you too. Ooh I wonder who you were with in the Tunnel of love. Painful end to your romantic moment.
Your in laws sound a force to be reckoned with. I can imagine it as a sit com. Hope they get their light fixed and the electrician gets out again in one piece. ?
I saw a heron yesterday. Actually it might not be a heron, just a bird with a long beak.

Panache Thu 08-Oct-20 11:31:27

`Morning dear gangsters .

Hopefully I find you all in good spirits whilst of course we all agree that we shudder at the mere thought of your poor painful thumb Missedout...........talk about these things are sent to try us.........they do just that for sure.
Commiserations and some.

Heavy rainfall overnight, but again this morning it is nice and dry although rather grey.

We have ordered lovely sunshine for your Birthday Bash Norstat
Judging by your choice of lovely pieces for your home elegance is very much the buzz word, and obviously our Doodle is dressing to impress.

Again I do wonder what she means by this sentence" I will be wearing a shimmering silver sheath dress to go with my triangle ".............this could be misconstrued and sounds very much the way I would say things!!!!!
Surely there can`t be two of us THAT much alike??!!
To be honest though I love the sound of your silver slinky Doodle........very snakelike!!!

I think I have missed the discussion about your kitchen Cherry........caught napping yet again!!!
I am quite an authority on kitchen design so can I perhaps help in some way?
I strongly believe in that we should plan our own kitchens where possable, for no one knows how we work other than ourselves....and we are all different.

What a busy lady you are Mamissimo if its not planting arrays of spring bulbs, you are into your tomatoes, and we are talking kilos upon kilos as well as a tart tatin!
Whilst the mere thought of Christmas puds steaming away certainly brought about much nostalgia.
I ask again,is there anything you are really NOT into

Whilst may I be bold enough to agree with your choice of dress for Bradfordlass..the blue Indian dress Grammaretto........ it is certainly the image I have of this very colourful lady
Have you decided on your outfit..........whilst will Mr G be accompaning you?

I am rather off balance this week with these 2 Hospital appointments in the same week........this used to be almost my norm, but for a while I seem to have had some welcome respite.
What a palaver attached to this dermatology clinic appointmet, the Doctor herself coming from the Locked down town of Llanelli.............but I am soooooo relieved I do not have to go to her Hospital.
Sadly we awaited all yesterday for my dear man`s Consultation by `phone since his face to face meet was cancelled.......this now being the third cancellation we are more than a little peeved.
Still no `phone call
This is especially needy since he has a long list...and growing...........of questions plus being in much pain this week.
One of those weeks it seems.

Trying to think of what I might wear but with such medical things filling my mind I am still unsure...........so shall make a hasty retreat to have some thinking time!!!

Have a peaceful day,no mishaps allowed and whatever else my friends..............do keep safe.

Grammaretto Thu 08-Oct-20 10:37:22

Hello Gangsters,

I have smiled and giggled reading all your news and plans until I noticed Missedout's poor thumb.
Ouch!
I hope the damage isn't too awful. Sending ((hugs))
It brings back horrid memories of the boating lake at Battersea Funfair when I was 16 and in lurve. I dangled my paw in the water just as the boat swung against the brick wall of the Tunnel of Love. My stifled screams were not at all romantic.

I think you should wear the blue Indian dress Bradfordlass it's more you even if less smart than the white.
I tried to see the Dragon meteor shower last night but I think twas a helicopter I saw. Very bright lights in a starless sky.

We are part of a black comedy sketch here, I 'm convinced. My inlaws are having trouble with an electric light. They can only trust us to deal with it. I have been trying to find an electrician who's prepared to run the gauntlet of their shielded house with very old and vulnerable and demanding people. It's a case of how many grammarettos are needed to change a lightbulb grin

Will there be a collection for your leather pooch on Saturday Mamissimo. I saw that rhino too and thought it lovely. I also liked the tortoise bell. Was that the same programme? But ofcourse doodle is right - Jeeves would be a much cheaper footstool.

My Magpie has now evolved via Mallard into a Great Northern Diver.

I need a coffee

BradfordLass73 Thu 08-Oct-20 06:45:08

My goodness, it's all happening with the gangsters at the moment isn't it?!
Missedout are you going to be the next one airlifted from a canal? I hope you get it fixed, it must be painful.
And all the rest who are battling health issues - please look after yourselves.

Dinner last night was lovely: saag aloo, potato and spinach cooked slowly with blessings and spices. Dessert was buttered semolina with fresh berries.

We were a party of 8 and all had a merry time. The room was full and some of the children were a little fractious but went out to the playground to recover.

I worked really hard swimming this morning as I knew I had limited time before it got busy - and it did. As we're now down to Level 1 (almost normal) the children are allowed back and get in free, so there was a queue to the door as I left.

Doodle What did the Dean say about NZ? Glad your lovely man was cushioned by a duvet.

For a multiplicity of reasons, I've never had a party/pretty dress but the fun of looking for a virtual one has kept me amused most of the afternoon. I'm offering you two choices of garments I like and you can vote grin
I wouldn't be wearing the bling.

I've just re-read The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
Blimey, it's all about kicking the bucket shock I never noticed this when I read it in my 20's.

I'm enjoying the jolly hockey-sticks book I'm reading now, 'Too Marvellous for Words" about girl-pranks at Felixstow College. Anyone else read it?

There's at least one gang member whom I can imagine writing it grin

Hope someone saw the shooting stars and made a wish smile It might be the only way Panace and MrP get decent food.

Doodle Wed 07-Oct-20 21:27:57

Panache I can’t wait to see what you are going to wear for Nortsat’s birthday party. Something vibrant I imagine.
I have gone for elegance this time and will be wearing a shimmering silver sheath dress to go with my triangle (I tell you that now as after I‘ve had a wine I might not be able to say it ?)
Let’s hope Cherry can work her magic on your meals as well as your dermatology appointment, Hope all goes well,
I’m sorry MrP is having so much pain. I hope the phone consultation was helpful.
Ah now I understand Cawl. It sounds quite tasty I have to say.
Thank you for asking after DH. Unlike poor Cherry DH managed to just roll out and didn’t hurt himself at all. He was a bit bemused but otherwise no damage. He will be issued with a new pair of specs in a couple of weeks.
Take care of MrP. I hope he will join us at the party. Jeeves is looking forward to seeing him again.?
Mamissimo you must be producing enough veg to supply a small supermarket. More tomatoes. ?
I hope you haven’t put any tomatoes in our Christmas puddings. Is there any alcohol going in the cake? My mum used to soak all the fruit for days before making the cake.
Gulp £1,500 for a footstool...... might be a bit steep for us. I will ask Jeeves to come and get down on all fours by your chair and you can rest your feet on him (he’s much cheaper ?)
Ooh is that one of those caramel wafers covered in chocolate? I love those.
cherry the kitchen is such an important part of the house it takes much planning. Are you designing it to be as safe as possible for yourself?
Cherry as I said to Panache DH sort of rolled out of bed. He was tangled in the duvet which probably slowed his fall. I think he was dreaming and turned over too far and just slid out.
Yes, thank you, his consultant is pleased with his results so he carries on taking the same dose of his tablets until the next review.
I’m pleased to hear Tigger is a bit more bouncy tonight. Hopefully a good night tonight will help too.
Can’t wait to see your new dress.
Ouch Missedout that sounds really painful. I hope you can find somewhere to get it treated.
I broke my big toe at school. It had to have a little plaster cast put on it. When it rained my mum made me go to school with a plastic bag tied round my foot to keep the plaster dry.
blush I was so embarrassed ?

CherryCezzy Wed 07-Oct-20 20:47:36

Missedout ? I broke my thumb playing with a frisbee. I hope you haven't broken yours ? I hope you can rest and have some suitable painkillers. Take it easy please.

Missedout Wed 07-Oct-20 20:41:29

Hi, photo taken on Leicester Arm of Grand Union Canal yesterday. Today, careless, stupid accident trapping my thumb with rope between a bollard and a moving narrowboat has caused a lot of damage. I think I need medical treatment but we are in the middle of nowhere. Will see what I can sort out tomorrow. I'll be back ASAP.

CherryCezzy Wed 07-Oct-20 20:36:27

A day of fewer phonecalls to obstructive officialdom today ☺️

My kitchen remodelling is one of the reasons why I've been sent all around the houses Nortsat. It's not progressing at all. Why are things that are seemingly quite simple end up being precisely the opposite? I've asked myself whether it's because I've complicated matters; the electrical work in two rooms has to be rejigged so I can have the cooker switch in the safest possible position. This has caused an unbelievable tangle which would take a novel to relate ?. Do I really want a new kitchen after all ?

BradfordLass thanks for the heads up about the meteor showers. I always seem to forget about this one but I usually remember the November (Leonid?) ones because they always happen around the time of a favoured aunt's birthday, sadly no longer with us.
That's some powerful visualisation, you've actualised Jeeves ?. Doesn't he have long legs though ?. I hope you enjoyed your dinner outing ?

Mr D didn't hurt himself falling out of bed did he Doodle? I hope he hasn't ended up battered and bruised. Does he have no idea why it happened? Good news about his bloods though

Grammaretto I don't know many people who feel entirely happy about their feet. I don't like mine at all, too small, too much hard skin caused by repeated treatment of verrucas (school pool) and ugly toes! By the way I'm glad you enjoyed your trip out. Reflexology is worth a thought for Mr G I think.

I'm okay now dragonfly, just had another cluster of seizures, they make me foggy and worn out but I bounce back. A good sleep tonight and I'll be Tiggering away again ?.
What a lovely surprise you (both) had yesterday. It's heartwarming to know that your friend is still around. I hope you have arranged to keep in touch.

I hope you don't mind but I think I'll keep my party dress quite simple on Saturday Nortsat. I know exactly which one I want to wear, it's new and I haven't had the chance to wear it yet ?
Good luck with your auction bid ?

Great Panache, the sooner you're seen the better ?. I hope it goes well for you. You saying that you believe that I have magical thought processes made me giggle as it took me down memory lane. I remember in the 70s there was a lot of chit chit chatter and pseudo science about people being able to move things with their mind. One day in my mum's after lunch we were larking about to see if any of us could do it. My two cousins were convinced I had moved the pepper pot with my mind ?

Back to what I was saying yesterday re. safeguarding, even if you live in accommodation that is not Local Authority run you can raise an issue of failure to safeguard to them as they are responsible for investigation of such matters. They have a duty to investigate.
I'm glad the cawl was good, we had a lamb casserole with very much those ingredients today ?

What's to come after the tomatoes *Mamissimo%? A tomato tart tatin sounds lovely, can I try some please ☺️. Gosh you're really on top of the yuletide preparations. I still keep forgetting ingredients on the list ?. I'd love to make a contribution to the fund for the dog but I think my donation at the moment wouldn't buy a chipped paw I've been spending all my money ?

Mamissimo Wed 07-Oct-20 17:53:45

Another busy day in the shires but there is light at the end of the tomato tunnel. Only 2.5 kilos today! I'm going to make a tomato tart tatin for our supper as a celebration. The Christmas puddings are steaming gently - the sound of the saucers rattling always reminds me of my mother and grandmother making their puddings. I've also prepared the mincemeat ready for its gently cook tomorrow. Just the cake to make and I will have done everything on this weeks list!

I was watching the Repair Shop this afternoon and liked the rhinoceros immensely. A quick dig on the wonder web and I discovered the manufacturer was Dimitri Omersa and I found pictures of all the other animals they make. I need the dog in my life ? .......would you all like to club together and get me one? Mr M seems reluctant to part with £1500 for a footstool.
I will have to use my wifely wiles.....

As I've been typing this I've been wolfing nibbling a Tunnocks wafer. Sheer bliss! Better not eat anymore or I won't fit into my corsets for Saturdays performance.

Doodle Wed 07-Oct-20 11:37:55

Morning all.
Grammaretto my feet aren’t the prettiest in the world. I hadn’t thought about that part of reflexology ?. I wonder if it would help MrG. How is he feeling today?
Simple soul indeed. I’ve heard all about you from Jeeves.?
Dragonfly how are you doing, and how is dear Dexter?
I agree that it is hard to watch someone you love suffer.
Good to hear your oncology friend is doing well.
The dreaded house move. Why is it these things are always fraught with problems. We had a nice short chain when we were buying. One person who was going to buy a house without selling his own, one who was moving away and not buying another and us who had a buyer all agreed. What could go wrong... the person at the beginning of the chain decided he was going to sell his house after all and the chan then stretched to another 3 people. It took ages to sort out but we made it here in the end.
With luck things will go more smoothly for your DGD. Look after yourself and keep safe.
Nortsat you sound a bit brighter today. Hope you are feeling better.
I will be pleased to participate in your party and am searching. for a suitable outfit. ? Champagne sounds lovely (hope I can still play my triangle if I’m a bit squiffy ?)
Your clock sounds lovely, I bet you can’t wait to see it. No peeking at the present before your big day ?
Bradfordlass I have asked Jeeves to be on hand with transport to get you to Cadogan Hall if you can’t get close enough with your parachute. Hope you had an enjoyable meal last night.
Just going to look at your thread and see what we should be looking for tonight.
Have a good day all.

Panache Wed 07-Oct-20 11:37:31

Greetings lovely fun loving gangsters, and yes delighted to add we have a bright, dry morning so from that sense........all is well with the world.

My word Norstat you certainly do not do things by halves and you have me all in a flutter trying to decide which of my many ensembles to wear.........remembering I have to try play the violin again..... after a rather considerable interlude!!!
At least some pleasant thoughts and planning to what is otherways turning out to be quite a week.

We sent quite a number of blue/white items to auction ourselves, and although of a good age we were disappointed with the results.

Cherry so sorry hearing you are having such discomfort yet again. hopefully you will soon be feeling very much your usual charming self.
Whilst let me tell you I believe you have magical thought processes!
You asked about my dermatology appointments........and although I replied,I now have further news...a phoe call yesterday asking if I was free tomorrow at a certain time........which of course I jumped at.They will contact me further with details it seems.
So both the scan and this appointment all in the same week.

Carry on working behind the scenes re our food situation which remains ultra erratic at best.

Indeed Dragonfly we can truly understand, so very many are missing their dear family and friends over this prolonged period, worse still there does not seem much relief in sight.
It is such a joy meeting up with those that went through various treatments with you,it is a real unbreakable bond........whilst your story of the lady whom was given just to Christmas to live and has defied those odds was very uplifting........... as we both are in a similar position,so grateful for each new dawning.

Sadly the painkillers have not worked so well for my poor man this time Doodle, whilst he is rather averse in taking them because of then feeling so drugged........today he should have had his consultation face to face.
Again this will be by telephone only and this is far from satisfactory when there are real issues to discuss.

For yourself and those interested yes the Cawl we recieved yesterday was extremely tasty actually, just a shame the crusty bread was soft ,the cheese mouse size and there was no butter............however overall much enjoyed..........and filled with goodness for once.
It is a form of broth or soup.
Common recipes are with lamb, beef or ham bone with leeks, potatoes, swedes, carrots and other seasonal vegetables.
Cawl is recognised as a national dish of Wales.

My turn to ask after your Mr D.......good news re his blood cancer, but not quite so good re his tumble out of bed!(hope he has not done himself any damage) and the breakage of his specs..............he certainly is one to keep you on your toes!!!!!!

Whilst Bradfordlass yes I have now completely hoovered him down!!!!
Its definately the way I say it!!!

Super picture of the canal Missedout........little wonder you are there and not here!

Seems you and your man enjoyed a drive out around the river Tweed too Grammaretto..........nothing quite like the ever changing colours of autumn to create that real wow moment.

I had never heard of the word caul...a fetal membrane, again something new learnt.Such a font of knowledge here.

You too will have learnt something new NfkD............whilst yes, there is obviously a lull in the shopping slots now plus people are stock piling it would appear.
It will only get worse nearer to Christmas I suppose.

I must keep an open eye out for Jeeves because quite obviously there is something going on there between our Mamissimo.......and Jeeves..............the mind boggles!!!!

The sun shining beautifully and our gardeners have now completed their garden clearing marathon,I think it time I took a stroll. However it is never very nice if not accompanied by my favourite man..............
Have yourselves a pleasant day, keep well and smiling
Stay safe

Nortsat Wed 07-Oct-20 10:35:10

Good morning gangsters, I have my coffee and am sitting comfortably (thank you Doodle).
Can’t wait to see a picture of your tablemat Doodle.
Yes please to a triangle performance at my party, particularly following your virtuosic solo at the last shindig. We are expecting a gown that will outshine your previous red, sequinned, strapless number.
Panache glad to know you had your late night scan When do you get the results? Sending you good thoughts. ?
Violin players are welcome in the String Ensemble at my party, differentiated scores are provided for those who haven’t played for a while. The magic party dust will be sprinkled and you will find that everything you ever learned, will come back to you, I promise. ?
Mammissimo there’s no question that we will require to a castanet performance from you. My partner has some beautiful Spanish guitar pieces in his repertoire, so he is ready to accompany you.
Thank Mr M for his offer of The Last Post on the bugle ... tell him we’ll let him know ...
Missedout beautiful photograph, it looks like a John Constable painting, thank you.
Nfkdumpling, it was interesting to hear about the benefits of your reflexology. It sounds lovely.
Cherry what is the progress on the remodelling of your kitchen?
Grammaretto hope MrG is eating better and is comfortable.
Bradford lass hope your dinner was nice, last night, courtesy of the Krishnas. They come around the streets here in east London chanting and inviting people to join them for a meal. I had a relative who joined the Krishna Temple in the 1970’s and married a member. They seem to have had a happy life together.
Regarding the Birthday Bash music, we’ll have some lovely classical guitar - JS Bach and Vivaldi. You mention Julian Bream, he is one of our favourite guitarists. Did you see that he passed away recently? What a beautiful player he was. My partner bought me The Complete Works of Julian Bream, on CD for my birthday a few years ago and we have had many happy hours of listening to those.
Dragonfly, it’s difficult not seeing our families in the way we simply used to take for granted, isn’t it. How lovely that you saw your fellow patient from Oncology and that she’s well enough to be out and about.

I am browsing Hanson’s Auction catalogues and have bid on a late 18thc blue and white tea bowl and saucer. Waiting for my Baccarat clock to arrive, my partner is paying for it as part of my birthday presents, so he will wrap it up and keep it until Saturday for me.
Birthday Bash dress code is ‘Dress to Impress’. The soloists (currently Doodle, Mammissimo and Panache) will be in full evening gowns (as required for stage performers) my partner will be in his ‘gig’ DJ and I am dusting off my sequins and pearls.
The champagne will be on ice and Cadogan Hall will be candle lit. It’s Saturday 7.30pm for 8.00 ... so get your glad rags sorted and your dancing shoes on !

Good morning all - thought I would drop in and see how my friends are doing.
Someone said on the GM thread that Cherry wasn't too well - I hope you have a better day today.

Panache so sorry your DH is in so much pain. I think it is often worse to watch the sufferer than to suffer yourself.

We went for a coffee yesterday outside as it was sunny and I bumped into a lady I met in oncology. She was given until last Christmas to live but I was delighted to see she is still here and reasonably fit.

Iam missing my DC and DGC although I had a long chat with my DGD yesterday. They are in the process of moving and what started as an easy house purchase is turning into a nightmare as the non existent chain is now infinitely long.

I used to see a reflexology lady once a year. We became friends and she always remembered what my weaknesses were and she was always spot on. I found it helped but like all these things you let them lapse.

Good to see you all again and stay safe.

Grammaretto Wed 07-Oct-20 08:15:44

Hello lovely gangsters,

I had a few reflexology sessions a long time ago, Nfk but I was rather embarrassed by the state of my feet. I was a guinea pig for the girl who was in training. It was fascinating stuff and probably, like acupuncture or acupressure, works in a different way from what most of us are used to.
I went to a lecture once by Jonathan Clogstoun-Willmott. (great name) He is a conventionally trained doctor who discovered acupuncture whilst in China and it changed his whole outlook.
Maybe I should suggest it to DH.....

I am a simple soul and miss the innuendo on here Doodle so sympathise about Jeeves and his duster. wink

I'm sure you'll enjoy your meal BradfordLass. All this gadding about! will you have time to practice the castanets?

Better get on with the day. Electrician is due again.
See you later.

Doodle Tue 06-Oct-20 23:03:21
