Chewbacca

That's what I thought too GrannyGravy. Has there been a recent announcement that it will be for England and Wales too?

Matt Hancock was asked and wouldn't rule it out.

Apparently, the emergency Covid Act allows for people to be confined legally to their home.

Surely an early break for holidays so they can isolate at home would be better? Or even isolate them in unis two days while they have a covid test first? Before they return home.Maybe Boris's stupidity has rubbed off on her?

And how does Nicola Sturgeon plan on doing that exactly without actually putting them under house arrest? I did think she spoke a lot of sense, but NOT in that particular idea. What happened to FREEDOM?

See, again with the DIFFERENT BLOODY RULES for 4 countries which are supposed to be a 'UNITED KINGDOM' - When are we going to be 'United' then?we should have one leader(presumably, Her Majesty?) and ONE blinking government- with one leader for that too! And ONE SET OF RULES for all 4 nations.! (I also dont see why Northern and Southern Ireland need to be different either- should all be Ireland.its all bloody insane. We should all have same benefits& same Laws too. Its stupid calling us UK when we're not united at all! ?

I am happy to be corrected but I understood that it was Nicola Sturgeons plan to keep students in Scottish Universities of Christmas.

I have not heard anything regarding English, Welsh or Irish Universities as of yet.

A fine example of "Do what your told or else". Nothing more than threats and intimidation but I don't put anything past this government now.

Of all the (very many) silly, unscientific, frightening, bad decisions taken by the UK government, over the past few months and all their many u-turns, etc. I think the worst and most stupid and unthought out one is the idea that tens of thousands of student will not be permitted to return to their families at christmas this year.

I do not imagine then any of the Uni towns and cities, or their police forces want to have thousands of unhappy, frustrated, home-sick and bored young people rampaging around during the festive season.

Surely, any of their families that contains a vulnerable person will ensure that they are well protected, but they will want their young people back home for that 10- 14 days.

Do think that someone made this statement without any real thought (about right for this government) without any real thought about what they were actually saying - and now their PR teams are waiting the right moment to say they have changed their minds (again).
