What lockdown?

Yes I agree but after the Government opens up Christmas we'll doubtless be back on full lockdown by 2nd January 2021!

Has anyone done any research on where most people's infection comes from?
Its an unpopular thought, but we can't get away from the fact that infections rocketed after schools and uni's reopened.
I agree both golf and tennis seem to be pretty safe occupations - could it be the 19th hole that's worrying them?
Were pubs and restaurants responsible?
Public transport?
Holidays?
Meeting one person in a garden?????
People just not keeping to social distancing?

I am not surprised school children are getting this virus, are all the teachers complying with the rules? no
I have recently been told about a friend of my daughters and her husband being tested positive,after going for drinks regularly to a teachers house for drinks with others
I think this teacher should be reported, she is putting her class and others at risk,and all who went to these drinks parties should be reported too

I agree we will have Covid around along time unless people start sticking to the rules.

The shops are as busy as usual,food outlets the same,garden centres too,this isn`t lockdown at all.
Hence covid isn`t going away.

I stay at home unless I am working Which is in 1 of the top 4 Supermarket only difference is our store is a Super Centre so it's twice as big. They are announcing that they have put a 1000 Marshals on, Not in our store, No counting them in or out. People coming in in big family's and most still aint wearing mask, Trying clothing and footwear on. Our store is rammed and to cut a long story short our GSM as told colleague's it is their own fault if they catch it. I would not mind that but there is loads off with it at the moment plus quite a few managers have tested positive as well. He only seems bothered about getting the money in. We was once people now we are just a number. No lock- down here.

Schools situation is crazy, if a child tests positive, that child and class must isolate for two weeks. However unless any symptoms develop the families of the classmates can continue as per usual. One of my friends has pre school , primary and high school children, so technically that’s two other schools at risk from that family alone should the isolating child become ill.... The government has an impossible task, especially as most children are asymptomatic. Thank goodness the vaccine situation is light at the end of the tunnel but we have a way to go until then .

What a responsibility for the government, it seems they are damned if they do and damned if they dont, folks say that the MPs keep changing their minds, i think that all the time there is different info coming through and dont forget it is strange and new times we are all, hopefully, learning but i must say that the things i have seen , heard or read makes me despair of the public, from mass brawls about wearing masks to mass brawls about a conspiracy theory and its all a big lie, how can people doubt what is going on, they should go to wards etc where people are really really poorly, and visit the relatives of the ones who have died, zero social distancing , zero masks and zero intelligence at these gatherings, i just despair

It'll be interesting to see the effects of the Welsh two week lockdown, and whether there will be a reduction on the infection rate at the end of the following two weeks.

I agree with susie. I believe it to be total rubbish to be honest. It certainly isn’t what the doctor I saw on Facebook was saying or demonstrating with a mask on and one of those oxygen reader things on his finger. Incidentally I’ve never seen this publication before, and it sounds very much like I don’t want to start now.

Oh thank you petra I should have read the thread properly.

It’s only a theory, but I wondered if garden centres are open because of the mental health issues lockdown has caused. Certainly my husband spent much of the last lockdown in the garden; one of the things he did was make flower boxes for the whole family, including one each for the grandchildren. He got compost from our own compost heap, and seeded flowers to put in them. He really enjoyed doing it.

My son in law (a GP) told me only last week how patients with mental health problems rocketed through the last lockdown and since lockdown. I also think that’s why one person from a household can meet with one other person from a different household, so long as it’s outside and not in a private garden. Under fives don’t count, so I could in theory meet with my daughter in the park with our three year old grandson, but not with either of the twins, who are six years old. We could in theory meet whilst the twins are at school. It’s because of the rocketing mental health issues in my humble opinion.

Can’t understand why golf courses are shutting. Two people can meet outside to walk. Only difference is they will be hitting a ball. ??

Whitty and Valance said that they recommended the garden centres because they were aware of people's mental health in the last lockdown.

I don't understand why garden centres are open. Gardening is not essential and most people do very little at this time of year. As GreenGran said, some centres are large with lots of outlets and I don't think they should be open.
I think DIY stores are more essential. It's more important to be able to buy things to do repairs at home.

Talking of not following the rules, 6 NHS staff are off with symptoms after car sharing and not wearing a mask. Wonder how many patients caught it from them too? No hope really.

We will do whatever we can to avoid catching Covid, we haven’t seen DD1 and GCs since February, but DD2 fetched our shopping for us during lockdown as we are in the vulnerable category.
If our bathroom fitters had got their act together we could legally have 5 builders in and out of our house for 3 weeks, but if I’m able to get my own shopping, DD2 can’t come to see us because she lives with and cares for our nephew, they both have Mental Health issues, so whilst I will do what I can I really don’t see the logic behind it.
Plus I assume our borders are still open to allow all and sundry to enter the country.

eg If you were already on holiday, you should return to your home as soon as practical and comply with the ‘stay at home’ requirements in your holiday accommodation in the meantime.

Some things may not make sense but these are the restrictions. Do them.

So Why, BGB31, does other people going into work annoy you.? If you can work from home you are lucky. Other people may not have the space or the facilities to work from home effectively. If you are working at home, you are as safe as you can be, and considerably safer than health workers, teachers, supermarket workers and all other keyworkers who have no choice but to go in to workplace, but I don't see how getting annoyed at others who are unable to work from home
effectively for whatever reason actually achieves very much as presumably if they are the only person going into your work place, they are still able to socially distance.
