I’ve had a text today from my surgery saying the inoculations are not being delivered at GP surgery level and we will have to drive at least 30 minutes to another town when/if the time comes. Very disappointing ☹️

Surely that’s worth a 30 minute drive ? Taxi? For such a special occasion ?

I listened to the woman from Ireland on the radio today and it was lovely hearing her and thinking how everyone listening was sharing in a piece of history-

Very wonderful ?

That actually is what has struck me.

Every time I watch the television, especially the news I am aware just how much we are all interconnected. Every country in the world wearing masks with the same hopes and fears as each other.

As humans there is so much more that connects us than separates us.

I think it will be a while before I qualify. marydoll was making a list of our ages some time ago but I think there was a data protection problem.
NotTooOld. I’m still on The Twinkle. I’ll move up to The Bunty soon, then The Jackie.

I'm still 79 so just miss being in the first batch of vaccinated. It's rather nice being too young for something again ?

NotTooOld. Ooh I did love my Bunty comic being delivered.
Especially those lovely plastic bracelets and rings that came as a free gift. !, Now where did I put them. I will be allowed out soon ,

My mum is 100 but Leicester aren’t getting the first batch - we are the poor relations it would seem. ?

Think bijou is over 90 but suppose it will depend on which areas get supplies first.

It's a wonderful day today. The next wonderful piece of news should be that the Oxford vaccine has been approved. An article in the Lancet says researchers have already proved it is safe, so what are we waiting for? grin
PS I don't actually get the Lancet delivered but I do look forward to my Bunty.

I have felt ridiculously excited today with the start of the vaccine programme. It’s an historic day isn’t it?

My husband is bored stiff with me discussing everything I have read!

He was delighted to get a phone call asking him to work tomorrow!

The first GNetter should surely post a photo of them having it done, just the arm so can still be anonymous. It would be good for morale grin

The problem with the Pfizer vaccine is that it has to be refrigerated at very low temperatures so is being sent out to hospitals and recipients come to them. They're investicating if a batch (975?) can be safely broken down into smaller quantities for sending to care homes to use before it gets too warm.

Is it by age or by alphabetical order of those over the age of 80?

Wales is vaccinating NHS and care staff first.

Jaxjacky Tue 08-Dec-20 20:20:19

Ok WW, cathymum it is...good luck cathymum ?

cathymum Tue 08-Dec-20 20:17:26

I work in a care home, we have to register for an appointment by midday tomorrow so hopefully not long to wait??

Jaxjacky Tue 08-Dec-20 19:31:06

WW means instead of say £1 to win, £1 e/w, so £2, is for it to win or get ‘placed’ (2nd or 3rd usually) you win less and it costs you more.

Oldbutstilluseful Tue 08-Dec-20 19:18:02

I really hope you are right Lemsip. ?

SueDonim Tue 08-Dec-20 18:57:32

My dd sent me a report today of a ward housekeeper getting the first jab at the hospital where dd works. The housekeeper is eighty years old! Makes me feel like a slacker. grin

lemsip Tue 08-Dec-20 18:47:30

I'm quite sure those that don't have transport will not be left by the wayside!! When we are all contacted to have it that is the time to discuss transport difficulties so no one should worry!!

Jaxjacky Tue 08-Dec-20 18:37:38

WW best of 3? ?

Oldbutstilluseful Tue 08-Dec-20 18:27:23

Exactly MrsEggy

There must be thousands of over 80s who don't or can't drive, what about them?

Would anyone like to join me in lobbying to make the phrase "I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but..." illegal for the next six months? Along with "Do your research". grin
