Schools shut next week?

My grandchildren at different secondary schools in the same town are going to finish half a day early. Instead of Friday lunchtime they will finish at the end of the day Thursday. I can't quite follow the logic confused

Hello all
Last night I received an email from my Head saying that our school will be shut to all pupils next week, and that the remote learning plan will kick in.
It's a secondary in the Midlands, circa 1,600 children, 200+ staff.
I do feel for Heads at present, it must be such a difficult job.
He must be very worried about his staff.
Anyone else know of closures?
