Still mixing?

NotTooOld, it's the only sensible thing to do (stay away from other people) at this time.

I'm just amazed at the risks people seem happy to take, though.

Regardless of tiers and infection rates, there are very serious consequences of catching the virus, especially for older folk.

Ellianne & Galaxy may I come? And can the rave be swapped to a disco? With a marquee in a field and fancy wellies?

My plans have not changed, I am in Tier Three and are infection rates are dropping, now well below average. I am going to my sisters house, she is my support bubble, and my daughter is joining us. So there will be two households, four adults and two teenagers. I am retired, the other adults work from home and none of us, including the teenagers, have been out socialising. Schools broke up a week ago.

We are taking some precautions in the house, nothing over the top but common sense like sitting spaced out, using paper towels in the bathroom, lots of hand washing etc.

No rules being broken, no one staying over, no taxis needed and party games won’t involve close contact!

If we were in Tier Four, I could still see my sister although my daughter would not be able to join us but I think I would probably stay at home alone as the infection rate would be much higher.

Daisymae

Mawbe I am sure that it's the right decision. In theory we could mix as we are in Tier 2 but our family are in 4 and we are joining them in that Tier on Boxing day.

Thank you Daisymae I’m not being a saint or martyr, I should have said I am in Tier 4 as are the two younger daughters.
D1 with whom I “bubble” is in fact Tier 3 but she’s the one with the positive test result for her eldest child and as a secondary teacher, actually paradoxically probably the one most exposed to the virus. So it was a combination of what was initially legally permitted, common sense and then a simple decision taken out of our hands.
Added to all of that, all the roads out of my village are flooded tonight and I am actually very relieved that I am not going anywhere for the next few days! ☔️☔️☔️??????⛴

No. Although we're all in tier 2 there will be more than the allotted numbers for mixing if I'm there, even just for dinner.
I've only been in D's bubble, nobody else's.
There's no way I'm taking the chance, it's not worth it.

Will do. You will need to wear thermals smile

Ellianne Wed 23-Dec-20 20:52:41

grin Galaxy
Can you PM me the address please?

tanith Wed 23-Dec-20 20:50:38

I’ll be at home on my own, I will walk to my daughters to drop GDs present and my GS is going wave at me from the drive and take his daughters present. But it’s turkey for one here.

Galaxy Wed 23-Dec-20 20:48:17

And from that post it looks as if I have already been on some dodgy substances.

dragonfly46 Wed 23-Dec-20 20:47:41

No we are home alone.

Galaxy Wed 23-Dec-20 20:47:21

Speak for yourself Ellianne, I am going to a to a rave wink

Blossoming Wed 23-Dec-20 20:44:13

Didn’t plan to mix in the first place ?

Ellianne Wed 23-Dec-20 20:41:13

I'm sure no one is going to come on here and say they are still carrying on with plans to meet as 3 households, even if they are in tier 2.

We are still going to DD & SiL who live locally. Case numbers in Northumberland have been falling for the last week according to the Covid symptom study app & none of us have mixed with anyone else.

MawBe Wed 23-Dec-20 20:31:26

No
DDs 2 and 3 plus SILs have all had Covid tests to see if I could go to one of them so that I am not on my own (had to cancel going to stay with D1 as DGS (10) is positive,) but I have decided to stay at home.
If only everybody did likewise.

We are still going to spend Christmas day with our younger son, our DiL and their toddler, as planned.
Apart from the fact that it is still allowed in our tier (2, soon to become 3), we childmind their toddler several times a week anyway, and none of us mixes with anyone else or goes in public places such as shops, so any risk either to each other or to anyone else is absolutely minimal.

The part of the plan that we did cancel was including my elderly mum, because it was going to involve a long journey, and the potential risks if she needed a toilet stop at a service station, or even of a breakdown in our old car just seemed too great to take.

NotTooOld Wed 23-Dec-20 20:23:40

I'm sure many are, Daisymae. We decided some weeks ago not to and the family agree with our decision (well, there have been a few minor admonishments!) so we are all set for Christmas-for-two. Sad, but really no alternative this year.

Daisymae Wed 23-Dec-20 20:17:13

Despite all the news over the last couple of days I wondered if anyone was actually planning on carrying on with plans to see family, even if it is within your current restrictions?
