I agree with Kalu. It is this kind of behaviour that makes me despair So many of us have had to make sacrifices in order to keep ourselves and others safe. But as the older generation we do help to shape our society's attitudes and behaviour. Looks like we havn't done a very good job.

Would that NHS workers were truly the angels you all seem to think they are! People are just people whatever their job and some act irresponsibly and some don’t. Fact of life. Like the NHS receptionist I encountered in October whilst having my follow up post major cancer operation who thought her face mask was some type of necklace.

What a totally unjustified comment about our NHS workers who have had no respite since March 2020,people are not just people whatever their job NHS workers are highly skilled and the Country is in debt to them for all their hard work during this awful time.

I wonder if these people who are deliberately flaunting the rules and catch Covid expect to be treated in Hospital? They make me so angry. My Son has a friend who thinks it won't happen to him and his wife and very young baby. They are totally irresponsible. I'm staying in and doing my bit. And I am scared for my family and friends. I wish these people would just wake up and think of others.

I have friends who are still mixing and it makes me so angry. One guy, who lives with his mum, argued with me saying that his 85 yr old mum and him are in their bubble, but yet he is going to friends houses helping them with jobs. He says no one is coming to their house so she's ok. Total amazes me how thick a person can be as he could easily carry it into his mum from one of his friends houses. He's the type that thinks he knows it all. In March Covid was only a silly cold, then later masks are for Dick Turpin. A complete idiot!

Reports of police breaking up a 70 strong New Years Eve party held in a small flat in my tier 3 home city and an anti lockdown beach party in Brighton. We’re going through the biggest pandemic in 100 years and all these selfish morons can think about is their own pleasure

My son had the most awful text a few weeks before Christmas, it was from his friend's wife.
This is what it said, "Sorry to have to tell you this by text but Geoff and my Mother both died yesterday in hospital from Covid. I can't speak as I have an oxygen mask on. If I survive, I will ring you".
She texted again about five days later, to say she was home but still too breathless to speak.
Goodness knows how they all caught it, they were all being extremely careful as her Mum was late eighties although she was as fit as a fiddle for her age.
So, both gone, just like that! His friends wife left alone and my son and others devastated at the loss of their friend.
So, when you see someone being an absolute fool, having fourteen people in their house, please contact the Police because the idiots could actually kill someone.

"She didn't think to let people know" doesn't wash it with me. she didn't let people know as she was hoping they wouldn't find out. How selfish can you get? My daughter was a nurse on a ward that was covid free. Just one visitor came in at the beginning and didn't say that they'd been feeling unwell. As a result 17 out of the 2o patients and 12 staff caught it. Unbelievable!!

Frankly, I don't understand why, from the very beginning, every country didn't do formal quarantines. I remember when I was little when a man in a full quarantine suit showed up at our home and put a quarantine notice on our door. We weren't allowed to go anywhere and no one was allowed in. Family and friends delivered groceries. Why didn't we do this? Why is it about PERSONAL FREEDOM? Then why do we wear seat belts? Why do smokers have to stay distant? Why do manufacturers have to follow safety? NO!!! There is a big picture here and too many are being far too narrow minded and selfish.

Oh dear, so sorry to read that people are still bending the rules to suit themselves! My friend and neighbour has just been tested positive. We have only been communicating via Messenger or text for weeks as she was shielding so that she didn't catch and pass it on to her seriously ill DH who has lymphoma. What happened- she caught it whilst on the ward with him when he was distraught that she hadn't been to see him. Now she can't go in anyway. The friend who took her a plated Christmas lunch is now isolating, so guess who will be doing the shopping for both of them?! The selfish idiots you have been discussing have no idea how tough it is for some people. My friend may never see her husband alive again. They have no children - life sucks sometimes especially atm. Sorry rant over, Happy New Year to all.

I would ring the police and tell them and see if they will go and warn her about her actions putting others in danger. He behaviour us selfish appalling and someone should tell her immediately.

We don't know how long Wuhan had the virus or how many people died from it before they were locked down for over 2 months - or how far it had spread before it was identified elsewhere.

In Wuhan, China, where all this started, they are now free of Covid infection, without any vaccine. Makes you think.

It is selfish, stupid people like this that are putting everyone, including themselves, at risk. I would have no hesitation in telling them so. I would also tell everyone else that had been put at risk by their so-called friend.

MissA that friend if yours needs telling off good and proper possibly by police or someone in authority for breaking all isolating rules. We were on our own for Christmas and New Year, I’m clinically vulnerable so MrNick and I have been very careful with distancing and no one has entered our house since March , online shopping comes to the door and our pharmacy also delivers medication to us plus we have wonderful neighbours who bring the daily paper or anything we might need between deliveries.
We FaceTime family and friends , it’s not the same as being together but it’s better than not seeing them at all and we do laugh!!!

A builder was working in our front garden before Christmas and phoned to say he had a positive test for Covid. We self isolate anyway and don't go out as we are older, but we did get a test just in case which was negative thank goodness. We were home together all through the holidays, first time ever, but had a lovely relaxing time. Makes me angry at the selfish attitude some people have when most of us are really careful and have given up everything, even seeing our own families, to protect the NHS

I was waiting outside a shop for my husband and a man passed by walking a dog. He spotted a friend and stopped to chat but said “I won’t come too close I think I’ve got you know what” and then started thumping his chest! It beggars belief; out and about, no mask!! ??

Sadly the list of people and their thoughtless behaviour is endless. They are friends of COVID spreading it thoughtlessly wherever they go. Drink driving is against the law and kills the innocent. People breaking the COVID rules are just the same - criminals and potentially killers.

A friend of my grand-daughters whose mother had died in an accident had only about 20 people at the funeral but unbeknown to them one of the people there had taken a Covid test just two days before the funeral. He told nobody that he was waiting for the results, a day later he found he was positive, after he had been in close contact with everyone at the funeral, even hugging my grand-daughters friend. Panic then trying to contact everyone who had been at the funeral all because of one absolutely stupid person.

leeds22, I'm so sorry that you are getting the idiot people from Tier 4 coming to your town regardless of the danger of spreading the virus. Where we live was Level 1, but like the rest of mainland Scotland, we are now in Level 4, and I hope the travel ban will save us from that sort of mindless, selfish behaviour.

It is actually easier to deal with now, as we know that everyone is more or less locked down, rather than just some parts of the country. I can see the same thing happening in England before too long. Good luck!

I guess I'm wondering why we're still having threads like this - we all know someone who's breaking the law because that's what it is - Christmas Day was the only day not included - if we all stood up to be counted, and 'ratted' on these people, yes I mean 'ratted' - called the police - they might think twice in the future. Why am I feeling so aggressive - simply because I've got covid from where I have no idea - I cooked my own and hubby's Christmas Dinner, I've not been in and out of neighbours', friends', relatives' houses, and not 'out' but once a week to deliver a hot meal to an elderly relative's doorstep. I'm feeling absolutely awful as is hubby and could willingly strangle anyone who tells me the type of thing reported on this thread. Why are we all so namby pamby in standing up and being counted. In my present mood it's name and shame I'm afraid.

The trouble is glammanana that fining students for having parties makes good headlines - fining pensioners doesn't.
