No Trisha . This is definitely not a vanity issue. It's been a nightmare to be honest. Like I said, if I had hair I would stay away from hairdressers. If I don't get my system 'serviced' it will eventually come off. I am not prepared the be bald, even in my own home.
At the first lockdown I used to get cross with people complaining about not being able to go to the hairdressers. At least they've got hair.

Definitely go. This is not a vanity issue, it is about your personal wellbeing and the place you are going to has obviously taken all the precautions necessary. To compare it to a normal "hairdressing" appointment is like comparing chalk to cheese.

Me and DGS2 had to self isolate after he had his haircut as his hairdresser was diagnosed with coronavirus the next day. We were ok fortunately. They all have masks and visors and very clean. No one could have predicted it.

Kate, as someone who is shielding, I have been advised to attend medical appointments.

As your Hair Clinic has been given medical exemption to remain open, I think it’s clear that your treatment is classed as ‘medical’.
It sounds sensible and safe to me. In your shoes I would attend, particularly as you have safely attended twice before, during the pandemic.

This treatment must have a strong bearing on your mental health, for that reason alone I would most definitely go.

Thank you everyone. As I said, I've been a couple of times during the pandemic and felt safe. The process takes about an hour and a half but a lot of that time is me sitting alone in the room whilst the lady takes my system away.
Berylsgranny I understand what you are saying which is why I asked for advice. Of course hair isn't important and as I said, I wouldn't be going to a hairdresser if I had hair.

You should go in my opinion. If they are taking proper precautions I see no reason why not.

If it has been ecided they should have a medical exemption due to the mental health side effects of your not getting this scalp conditioning and so forth, then I think I'd go in your place.

And clearly, berylsgranny, it is NOT going against all advice.

Kate1949 If it's as safe as you say, I would go but it would depend how long you would have to be in there. If the process takes a long time, it's more risky unless you can ask them to have all the windows open for ventilation.

Berylsgranny Kate doesn't have any hair, so this process becomes a medical one.

I def would not go. This is surely going against all advice - sorry but this is truly important, your hair does not meet that criteria.

I would go Kate it sounds like they have good safety measures in place. I have to go to the haematology clinic and was worried but the precautions were as you describe and I felt safe.

It sounds very safe, Kate1949, as my friend said, her hairdresser was operating very safely and allowing time between clients to sanitise but had to shut again - whereas when her DH went to the hospital it was not operating as safely as the hairdresser's.

I hadn't been at all because I heard my salon was not strictly adhering to the rules.

For myself, I’d go. I’ve been to the hairdresser and beautician since the easing of lockdown and it’s felt very safe indeed.

I won’t be going anywhere now, mind, as Scotland goes into lockdown again from midnight!
