Police and hospitals are letting us know they are very short of staff who are off sick with covid or self-isolating due to having been a contact in the test and trace system. I understand that the general rule is that even if you have had covid, you still have to isolate if you come into contact again. What do Gransnetters think of the idea of allowing police and medical staff who have already actually had the coronavirus and recovered to stay at work even if they have again been in contact with the infection? Or maybe just for the first 3 months after recovering, just in case they could get it again.

I’m no scientist but my understanding would be that if they have been in close contact with someone who has covid they could possibly carry the virus to their workplace even though they might be symptom free.

Their temporary immunity would hopefully mean they wouldn’t become ill. But that wouldn’t stop them passing it on to anyone in their vicinity.
