That didn't work well for Hitler when Jews were tattooed. Or maybe it did, those with their number tattooed on them were easy to spot and send to the gas chambers. Is that what you'd like?

Blue Sky - fair enough. Just in case it is of interest to you, if you were to be offered the vaccination earlier at the out of town centre, there are volunteer drivers who can arrange safe, free transport.

I've just read a message on another forum where the poster said she thought her natural healthy immune system would protect her against the virus. As we do not have any natural immunity against this virus as it is so new and different, I cannot understand her thinking. She has been encouraged to have the vaccination.

I didn’t know you could measure if you even have a healthy immune system, don’t you only know when you have a problem with it?

I’d just sat down for a read on gransnet after an exasperating chat with an anti vaccine acquaintance. It was a spur of the moment comment which unfortunately I didn’t in that moment associate with the horrific circumstances you’ve mentioned.

Again, please accept my sincere apologies. I will ask for it to be removed. I feel dreadful that my thoughtless stupidity has caused offence.

Interestingly, an ex colleague of mine, who lives about a 20 minute walk away, had her first jab a week after I did, at the same fairly local hub, but she was given the Pfizer, whereas dh and I had the AZ.
Seems to depend on which GP surgery, since hers is different from ours. And I dare say they just have whatever they’re allocated.

NellG thanks didn’t know about the volunteer drivers. Sorry if I sounded flippant in my earlier comment but I need my coffee first! Seriously I’m too old to worry about possible long term side effects. Noticed how they no longer offer/recommend breast/bowel screening in the over 70s?
You seem to know quite a lot, are you medically/scientifically trained?

BlueSky although you are not automatically invited, you can get both breast screening and bowel screening over the age of 70 on request.

I am having the jab tomorrow and I am worried about the length of the needle, I hate injections despite having to 'stab' myself every week but that is with a pen type not a syringe and I always find anything to do with injections incredibly painful. I think I will take paracetamol before I go as I do when visiting the Dentist and hope I do not give in to nerves.

Blue Sky, and I'm sorry that I was so confrontational - people having the vaccine is very important to me and I like to squash misinformation. So, my apologies. I am medically trained though no longer practising, but I studied research methods and still take an active interest in research and how it is interpreted to/by people.

I'm always happy to discuss the why's and wherefores of things as I understand them.
