Asymptomatic teenagers

If it's any comfort to you, I thoroughly support the idea of teachers being vaccinated as soon as possible.

This is of no help whatsoever but I do wish you the very best of luck with it all.

My GS was asymptomatic too, so was able to look after the others in her family. Think she was a bit miffed.
Her secondary school will be testing every pupil in the next door leisure centre before they are allowed on school site. The years are staggered to allow this to happen the first time. The second week they begin home testing.
Hopefully, the school staff will be doing the same as they are at huge risk in the staff room.
From what I have seen outside of the school, staff have also been too close to parents.

Our GD has received a letter today to be part of the NHS random testing, which she’ll be doing, she’s 13.

I have believed all the long that children and teenagers were the main superspreaders and the return to school last year triggered the steep rise in infection numbers. I and others I have spoken to are anticipating that the infection numbers will rise again in the next week or two.

To date, only a third of the population have had one vaccine so even the old vulnerable are not yet protected to the highest level possible.

I'm 65 and clinically vulnerable but cannot get my first vaccine until the end of this month so I'm looking towards mid to late April before that becomes as effective as possible.

Meantime, streets, buses and other public places will be awash will young people unmasked and not adhering to social distancing guidelines so I'm staying put.

My D has returned to college today. She will be in a small classroom with 30 students aged around 17.
I am not convinced that the lateral flow tests will be accurate and some asymptomatic students will slip the net and cause infections to rise again.
It will be a while before my D's turn for vaccination as she is in her 40s.
