I've booked a haircut - the first one in over a year!

I'm going for a walk with somebody on Sunday and we're planning to have a picnic if the weather's nice. First time I've been with anybody face-to-face (apart from the GP and dentist) for more than a year.

Oh happy days! Hairdresser booked for later in April considered just going grey but DH not keen ? so will continue to be coloured for a few more years!
Holiday booked for mid May in U.K. which has been moved twice ?
Best of all will DS and his fiancé coming to sit the garden on good Friday from Leeds so looking forward to seeing them!

To answer the original question, we have invited our daughter and family to join us for a picnic in the garden at the weekend. We'll have two tables, us and them, a few feet apart. Hoping the weather holds.

Looking forward to being able to go swimming again - walking the streets doesn't do my cranky knees or my mental health any good and my poor old body feels very stagnant.
Husband and I went out to a woodland area yesterday further afield than we have been visiting, and had the usual packed lunch in the car (husband can't stand eating outside if there's even the occasional insect!) finished off with a visit to some family we haven't seen for 18 months, and had a nice cup of tea and a natter in the garden, so it was nice that we could do that.
I did for the only time in lockdown manage to get a booking for a NT property last week for a walk with my sister, which was OK-ish, but felt rather regimented, had to stick to designated paths, and when we inadvertently strayed off of the approved route down a path my sister has used many times, we were rounded up by a NT staff member in a van!
Looking forward to next month and going to our caravan and unsupervised walks in the woods there which don't have to be booked!
Roll on June and the end of restrictions, more freedom and choice of things we are able to do.

A lot of people seem to have missed the fact that even though we can now meet in gardens, we are still supposed to social distance when we do. I have seen countless photos of groups of five or six friends sitting together at a picnic table.

I have decided to keep the grey that has appeared and the dark back. No more torture for hours getting it coloured in and out after a wash and blow-dry. We have cut it between us goodness knows what the back looks like I don't use the mirror to look.
I'm told by DD on facetime it looks fine so that will do until I get my second jab. Not much difference at all.
Too far from relis to meet up so facetime it still is until overnight stays are allowed.

Ailidh Wed 31-Mar-21 11:40:02

Things won't change much, I'm a cheerful solitary.

I definitely want a haircut, it's fine and frizzy and grey but not the good kind of grey. Ugh.

It'll be nice to have outdoor café coffee with friends.

It'll be lovely to get the odd week at the coast.

However, during the current response to easing, as with the easing of Lockdown #1, the more I see prats gathering in unmasked hordes, the more I'll be staying home and keeping my distance.

In Scotland so looking forward to going to garden centre after Monday and making a haircut appointment Stay at home ends tomorrow but we still have to stay within Council area so still can't visit family or friends as all outwith this area Roll on next indicative date of 26th April when shielding paused workman allowed in and we can travel throughout Scotland

lizzypopbottle Wed 31-Mar-21 11:32:43

Septimia why not park your own car across your driveway? It must be galling not to be able to get off or onto your own driveway.

Whitewavemark2 I also hate my hair. I've tried more 'product', no product, and hair clips (some, wrongly, call them grips ? but they fall out as soon as I put them in!) ? My hair appointment is a fortnight away yet.

Can’t wait to be able to see my lovely daughter and family who live abroad. It’s been almost two years since we were together. I miss them so much, but it doesn’t look to be any time soon with travel restrictions abroad. At least I know that they’re all well and safe.

icanhandthemback Wed 31-Mar-21 11:29:30

I saw my 2 granddaughters yesterday. The little one who is 21 months old ran towards me shouting "Nana" and threw herself into my arms. She wouldn't let me go. Before the first lockdown she wouldn't even look at me without crying. We had some brief times at SS meetings where she thawed but we have barely glimpsed her since well before Christmas so I was sure she would have forgotten me but absence has obviously made the heart grow fonder. Her older sister came out of school with the greatest joy when she saw me. I nearly cried!
With the sunshine of their smiles and the sun in the sky, the world suddenly felt like a better place.

Greyjoy1953 Wed 31-Mar-21 11:25:26

Lockdown so far has enabled me to have an outdoor BBQ with DD and her husband and children, such a boost for us, if we are sensible hopefully these wonderful events will continue.

Nanny27 Wed 31-Mar-21 11:24:19

I am counting the days until I can see my 2 sons and their families. We haven't met for almost a year now and I miss them so much. May 17th is the date ringed on my calendar and I can't wait.

Greyjoy1953 Wed 31-Mar-21 11:23:27

I stopped dyeing my hair before lockdown and saved myself roughly £410 per annum. This wasn’t my incentive but was so pleased I had taken the leap before lockdown. So press on ladies it’s worth the effort and much healthier for your hair. Keep safe x

Nannan2 Wed 31-Mar-21 11:20:16

Apart from a haircut- when can- and hosp appts- and a 10 minute visit to take dd her present&card (her birthday actually on 12th) I'm going nowhere as my health and especially youngest sons health is not good..maybe when we get 2nd jab?

Theoddbird Wed 31-Mar-21 11:17:33

I live an isolated life really so it won't change my life a lot. I expect daughters will bring children to visit in holidays and I will visit my son and his wife at some point.

Nannan2 Wed 31-Mar-21 11:13:31

When can we have haircuts? Thought not open till 12th april???‍♀️

grandmajet Wed 31-Mar-21 09:35:12

Seeing my eldest daughter and her family.
Seeing my son and his wife.
Seeing my middle daughter and her family.
Seeing my youngest daughter - we did that yesterday - , and her partner.
I June, ??, seeing them all together in the four cottages we have booked near York. Please let that happen. Please.

LtEve Wed 31-Mar-21 09:29:12

I’ve booked hairdressers, cut and colour plus leg/underarm wax, eyebrows and eyelashes and pedicure. I’ve been going to work throughout so have seen loads of people. I’m very pleased that DH can play golf, no idea why that was banned anyway. We’ve been going to see my father in law regularly since June last year as there’s so much he can’t do and his mental health has been deteriorating massively as a result of loneliness so that won’t change. Can’t wait to be able to hug anyone (who wants to be hugged that is?) I’ve been hugging FIL throughout anyway.

Gingster Wed 31-Mar-21 09:20:48

Getting to our cottage by the sea.
Seeing DS2 and his family.
Walking with friends
Seeing my DB’s

Not bothered with pampering (never have)
Not bothered about meals out (usually disappointing AND expensive.)
Not bothered about holidays ( been everywhere we wanted to)
Not bothered about parties, (they’ve lost their sparkle)
Not bothered about travelling to London

Just simple pleasures and a peaceful life will suit me ?

Ellianne Wed 31-Mar-21 09:08:44

I have everything I need now because I can meet family, one by one of course, for barbecues in our gardens. Our DD has gone to town with hers and the new swing seat has my name on it, ( though their dog seems to have commandeered it!) Our eldest DS has just moved so I am desperate to see his house with a dash through the rooms!
Then a bit later down the line a family wedding, and a chance to meet a new baby from London when he comes to stay.
It's all about family and people for me, we will all pick up where we left off. Happy times!

Cabbie21 Wed 31-Mar-21 09:05:53

Today I am driving to our nearest NT place for a walk, on my own, but it has felt too far to drive previously.
This afternoon I am going to a choir practice in church. Small choirs are at last allowed to rehearse and sing for church services. We have all had our first jabs and practise social distancing, own copies of music etc.

Franbern Wed 31-Mar-21 08:49:54

Whereas, it will be lovely seeing all the small (remaining) shops re-open, and can look forward to having my hair professionally cut - I must admit that it will have little effect on my life.

I am waiting, with increasing impatience, for the time when I can go to visit for overnight stays, myj adult children, and they can come and visit me for a few days.

So, still got some waiting to do.......

Mamardoit Wed 31-Mar-21 07:05:59

I'm another one who can manage without the hairdressers. I will go and get my eyebrows done when that's allowed. I used to do it myself but I'm struggling now I wear glasses. If I take the glasses off I can't see what I'm plucking at.

Other than that it's just seeing the adult DC and the DGC. We are in no rush to go anywhere near crowds but I would like a few meals out over the summer. It was lovely sitting outside last night having a glass of wine with the neighbours.

Redhead56 Wed 31-Mar-21 00:12:17

GrannyRose that made me laugh! I cut my hair too. It's wonky but not going hairdressers I will leave it to do its own thing.

Teacheranne Tue 30-Mar-21 23:33:57

I’m waiting for when overnight stays are allowed so I can see my son again, I last saw him for just a couple of hours in October when he drove up on his way to the Lake District for a holiday. I saw my daughter on Christmas Day as she lives just 30 miles away but we don’t have any plans to meet up - her two horses have priority over me in the summer!

Apart from family, I’m looking forward to a few outdoor meals with some of my social groups, whatever the weather!
