I've booked a haircut - the first one in over a year!

I'm going for a walk with somebody on Sunday and we're planning to have a picnic if the weather's nice. First time I've been with anybody face-to-face (apart from the GP and dentist) for more than a year.

I’ve got an appointment for a colour and cut at the hairdressers. I last went on 9th December so it’s not too bad, but does need doing. I’ll make an appointment for an eyebrow wax too, although haven’t yet. I’ve seen the dentist so no problem there. My daughter and family are living with us now as they are homeless now their house is sold. It’s legal to stay between houses, we checked. So we’ve made a childcare bubble with our son and family so see them sometimes too. I’m looking forward to family barbecues in the garden in the summer. Though our darling daughter won’t be there as they’re going to work in New Zealand for a year. They’re sick of the stress in the NHS and so are going to a less stressful life and a more normal life for their children. So I’m looking forward to foreign travel opening up so we can perhaps go to see them in New Zealand.

I’m delighted that things are beginning to ease and that some return to life is now on the cards. I’ve got a hairdressers appointment booked and I’m on the list for a massage and some waxing! We’ve stuck to the rules religiously so it feels like a real reward to have some treats now. Yesterday I met up with some friends for a walk along the beach with a coffee and a bacon sandwich and today we had some friends for coffee in the garden - haven’t seen them for over a year. Also hoping to see two sets of grandchildren at the weekend on two separate days and then others after 12th April when travelling a bit further afield seems to be more of an option. I hope everyone takes advantage of the slight easing of lockdown and enjoys the sunshine and some freedom - it’s what we’ve all been waiting for. Stay safe everyone and enjoy. X

It means a lot to me. I can see my daughter and grandson daily if I want, golf whenever I like hairdo booked for the 12th, eyebrows etc on 16th and three restaurant bookings for April outside in marquees. I will go to the shops for some new clothes when the first rush has gone.

I cut all my hair off with my husband's bread trimmer as a lockdown protest so it will be a while before I need hairdresser.

Lockdown protest ? I don’t understand.

Grandsons coming for Easter egg hunt in our garden.

Hoping to use our NT, English heritage and RSPB membership cards to take our grandchildren out and about.

One grandson has requested a zoo visit and also a llama walk.
our grandson want to go to our local Farm.

The most important thing for me however, is that all goes to plan re the Boris roadmap and my grandsons will be able to go back to Saturday morning swimming classes..

Children have missed out so much over the last year

We should have been having a garden visit this weekend from our son and dil with youngest grandson
We haven't seen them since before Christmas.
Unfortunately the are all feeling unwell and waiting on covid test results resultsad

Unfortunately the easing of restrictions will not affect me until all my friends agree that it is time we got back to normal. Much as I would like to party, I can't without others - and 6 doesn't make a party as far as I am concerned.

I shall start swimming from 12th April, and aquacise from 17th May.

LauraNorder Tue 30-Mar-21 20:36:35

I look forward to seeing a friend or two in the garden for a jolly good catch up, a glass of wine and an opinion on my mid length grey hair.
Also longing to see my eldest son and family from Leicester when they are allowed to come to Wales.

I'm looking forward to going to stay with both daughters, but that won't be happening until end of May/beginning of June.
I do have a hair appointment for the 19th April. I usually have very short hair and really don't like it this long.
Like GG13 I miss hugs and cuddles.

Savvy Tue 30-Mar-21 20:32:22

It won't affect me at all, but neither did the lockdowns. I struggle to get out so unless it's a medical appointment for me or the vets for the pets, I'm at home.

I haven't been to a hairdresser since I was a kid, so I'm not worried about that, and all the shopping is done online.

Lockdown was normal life for me.

Visiting friends in their garden Thursday, a friend visiting us in ours on Friday, DG out of isolation on Monday, so garden visit from DD and both DG’s over this Easter holidays from school. Hoping for a hair cut at the beginning of April and if, if the road map continues, local pub on 17th May, that’s when we’ll catch up with good mates ??. Not bothered about shops opening or restaurants, it’s family and friends.

Oops counting the days until we can travel to see overseas AC/GC and family.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Mar-21 20:16:13

I have made appointments for :- hair cut and colour, pedicure, manicure, eyebrows & leg wax.
We are seeing all UK based AC/GC over Easter in various gardens.

Then it will be the absolute joy of eating something I haven’t cooked (even a takeaway involves clearing up)

Finally I want to hug our family, I am extremely tactile and not having human contact is something I have struggled with (DH aside)

BlueSky Tue 30-Mar-21 20:00:41

No difference until we can travel here and abroad. I don’t socialise and family abroad.

Shinamae Tue 30-Mar-21 19:57:48

My priority is to get my eyebrows waxed and tinted as well as seeing family but that goes without saying.....?

Blinko Tue 30-Mar-21 19:54:44

I have an appointment with the hairdresser and also the dentist! WooHoo!

Redhead56 Tue 30-Mar-21 19:52:00

We can go and see DD and DGD tomorrow in Lancashire. We are planning on going to a park for a walk and talk. We will see our DS DIL and twins to sit in their garden. We look forward to sitting in our friends gardens taking some homemade snacks and Prosecco.

Amberone Tue 30-Mar-21 19:21:26

Won't affect us much until we can travel to Wales to see my parents and family can travel to us - no family within 250 miles. We shop at the supermarket once a week anyway. Don't go out much for meals or to the pub so they can wait until things are more settled. It will be nice to be able to go further afield for a day out but we won't be heading anywhere where there are crowds for a while.

Haven't been to the hairdresser more than twice for about ten years, do my own nails and facials so for me none of those are a priority.

Trisha57 Tue 30-Mar-21 19:21:10

I don't think I will be doing anything different apart from seeing my family more outside when the weather is good enough. The difference will be that I will feel that, if I WANT to do something that is now allowed, I CAN!!! Just having the choice will make me happy, even if I don't do it........grin

janeainsworth Tue 30-Mar-21 19:17:54

Growstuff & Whitewave my hair is very fine too but what I have been doing lately is spraying it with Argan oil & massaging it in to my hair about an hour before I wash it.
It seems counter-intuitive since my hair used to be quite greasy when I was younger. But the oil seems to add texture & ‘bounce’.

EllanVannin Tue 30-Mar-21 19:14:51

It won't make that much difference to me I must admit. Apart from M&S and the nurse at the surgery I haven't even worn a mask----not even to the corner shop this last 12 months.
I even got the bus today with no wobbles, after a year but I must do more walking as I've all but siezed up and walking feels clumsy.

I don't do hairdressers or beauticians ( hands or feet ) and don't eat out so I'm not affected like many will be. A plain and simple life---that's me with no demands made on me. Just how I like it, and I'm not a miserable old bint either grin

Whitewavemark2 Tue 30-Mar-21 19:10:10

Actually apart from hair I am looking forward to lots of stuff.

Farmers markets, food festivals, NT property and their special days, but at the moment only the outside stuff. I also want to go to the Weald and Downland museum again.

The list is endless.

What we aren’t keen on yet is travel on trains say to London for the day, or the theatre which we love. Restaurants also are not being top of the list for a time.

Septimia Tue 30-Mar-21 19:00:50

The easing of restrictions here will mean that all the walkers and cyclists come out and park all over the village so that we can't even get out of the drive. I don't mind that people want to enjoy the countryside, I just wish they'd be more considerate.

As for hairdressers - I can count on the fingers of one hand the times I've been to one. The results weren't satisfactory so I haven't been for 40 years. DH cuts my hair when it gets long enough to annoy me. So visiting the hairdresser won't be my first outing!
