No, she and her family know perfectly well goes on in China. However, for the vast majority of citizens for the vast majority of times, life goes on perfectly normally. They're not quite the second-class brains and downtrodden peasants some seem to think. People object when Israelis are blamed for the actions of the Israeli government. Why don't they put their thinking caps on and realise it's the same for most people in most countries?

It is the responsibility of Public Health England, here is their own description of where they fit in:

Actually, If Boris is responsible for the massive lash up and dithering, he was also responsible for decisive action with the appointment of Kate Bingham to run the vaccine task force, very early on in 2020.

And ... The NHS was responsible for owning masses of PPE that went out of date.

Previous administrations had no plan for a pandemic, it seems, surely something that should be updated and updated constantly?

Plus ... Doctors turfed people out of hospital into care homes with COVID to infect others.

My Chinese student regularly communicated with her relatives still in China and she didn't know anything about that. (And, yes, she is ware how the Chinese government treat dissidents.)

I accept that but it is the comparisons that I object. We are always being told that Britain is a world leader but it's not doing too well at the moment (apart from the vaccine). I wonder how much of Johnson's push for a vaccine was because he was and is aware of how badly he's performed over covid.

Last year a French friend asked if we were going to become citizens, rather than continue as residents and we said that we were and still British.

I am British and I am concerned about what happened in the UK even thought I don't live there at the moment. It is the British govt that you should be taking to task and not comparing Johnson's activities to those of Macron or Merkel or any of the other heads of state. You should be concerned about what happened in the UK and do something about it.

Are you concerned about Macron’s handling of the pandemic?
If not, I wonder why?

I think that as time goes on it will sink in to the country just how serious Cummings allegations are.

We have a government that because of it’s incompetence and a prime minister apparently totally unfit for office, is responsible for 10’s of thousands of deaths and an economy struggling far more than it needs.

This post mortem needs to start now.

I've just started reading Failures of State: The Inside Story of Britain's Battle with Coronavirus. It's written by two investigative journalists from the Sunday Times - hardly Johnson's enemies but he doesn't come out well at all.

I think there is a good chance we will hear from others now the dam has burst.
