Elspeth yes I know it wont be anytime soon re Oz....I shall be patient.
Planning ,tentatively, for Dubai in October to fit in with the older grandsons half term, it's far too hot at the moment, not for me but the grandsons,...the thought that hugging my daughter, s.i.l and grandsons may actually happen has put a spring in my step today.....there are lots of us on GN who have overseas family and its been tough for us all..??

It will be a long long while before you get to Australia sorry to say .

I do know that when travelling to Dubai at this time you must do a PCR test no more than 72 hours before departure and have a printed negative certificate to show on arrival. You must on arrival download and register on the government covid smart app. If asked to take another PCR test on arrival you will have to isolate until you get a negative result. If positive you will be quarantined for 10 days which may be in a government facility, hospital, designated hotel or with hosts.
Does anyone know what happens if you test positive while in Dubai. Do you have any say in where you isolate?

That's what I meant, you have to do a test just before departure, but I can't imagine anyone doing one in the middle of their stay unless they had symptoms.

I can understand the excitement, how wonderful for you. You don't have to quarantine coming back to UK from Amber countries. If you actually get Covid whilst out there (can't see why you would do a test before departure unless you had symptoms) then if you are staying with your family you would just stay on until you test negative. Check with your travel insurer to make sure you are covered.

I think everyone going on holiday has to have a Covid test two days before returning home - part of our governments travel plans but I could be out of touch. My sister is off to Crete tomorrow, also amber, and she has booked their tests with the hotel.

Good news farview. Enjoy your visit.
Check the requirements for entry into Dubai though before you book.

Excellent news farview. I still remember that very moving picture you posted on our photo thread.

I hope you get there soon farview.

I have a son there but am going to wait to see whether air travel results in a rise in infections before I get on a plane. Any idea what happens in Dubai if you test positive? I wouldn’t be able to afford a quarantine hotel.

Whoopee doo farview !!!! Now I know why you are called ‘farview’. Grans like us who have GC just round the corner, don’t realise how heartbreaking it must be not to be able to cuddle your GC on a regular basis. When you do see them, you will be surprised at how they’ve grown. Have a lovely time when you do ???
