Maybe you’d be angry if your grandson had covid having done everything possible to not catch it. The vaccine was safe. So everyone was applauding the government for vaccinating people in this country before other countries deemed the vaccines to be safe. And yet now, with evidence from many other countries that the vaccine was safe for 12 year olds, we must applaud the government for ‘being careful’. Well, it’s too late for my grandson and he’d better be one of the ones that has it mildly that’s all I can say.

So do you think the European research results were simply ignored Jennifer Eccles? Were they waiting to see the outcome for children in other countries first?
The result has been a huge wave of infections in secondary schools, with fully vaccinated parents also becoming infected.
It seems very strange that the research bodies who cleared vaccinations for adults before other countries have waited until after other countries to start vaccinating 12-17 year olds.

It was widely reported that the government was sensibly waiting to hear before making a decision about children.

Can you imagine the outcry if the vaccination of children had gone ahead before the JCVI report was completed ?

Our GC (13) was having the vaccine in school today, their decision after discussion with parents.

It was already deemed to be safe I believe. The argument was whether it was worth it given that children of that age weren’t very ill with it. Given that children were still allowed to go to school if members of their household had covid and that mask wearing in schools and on buses was no longer mandatory it was obvious to anyone with half a brain cell that covid would rip through the schools.

The Government were waiting for the JCVI decision on whether or not it was beneficial for 12 and overs to be vaccinated. They were waiting for results of trials, it would have been irresponsible to go ahead without knowing the trial results or without the backing of CMO.

So how come other countries vaccinated their over 12’s before they returned to school?

Since I have been wearing a mask everywhere I have had not had a cold or any coughs. I also wear my mask with pride and curse the people who don't.

My grandson has covid.Was due to have a much needed holiday at half term. 5 days after another boy coughed in his face (*****). Two weeks before he was due to have the vaccine. What is happening about vaccinating children that are missing it at school because they’re off with the virus? Why the f**k didn’t the government vaccinate children in the holidays? I’m spitting venom here…Thank goodness I’ve been able to get petrol. This country is a disgrace in every way possible.

That's what they've been told to do. The schools have been told by the DfE that children should still be attending,even if family members have tested positive. It's madness!

Well if whichever variant has supposedly died a death as all coronaviruses do, I'm sure the Govt. will manage to find one (probably a normal seasonal flu virus) and promote it to something that will melt your face off just in time for Christmas.

Do you think GagaJo it might be because as a toddler the nursery want to break the ‘plague’ optics and return these children to a less scary normality? No bad thing surely? I wouldn’t want our small grandchildren walking round wearing them. No need.

There is nothing "scary" about wearing a mask unless you tell them it's scary. Japanese children don't and haven't seemed to find it a problem.

What is scary is that some people do not want to mitigate the chance of other people getting what is still a killer virus for some and for others leaves their lives very compromised. Those people really scare me.

Young children just accept things. My 2 year old grandson used to go and get his mask when they went out. He just accepted it. Didn’t bother him at all.

My grandsons school have now told them to wear masks on the school buses and in corridors. Too little too late as per usual. My grandson will be having his covid jab in two weeks. I’ll be livid if her catches covid before he has it.

Am I missing something. I am trying to go about my daily life in a slightly more normal but careful manner, to protect myself my husband and those around me. I do this because I don't believe that I can carry on continuously worrying about something that might never happen, but I have thought carefully about what is important to me like seeing my children, grandchildren and friends and want to see them without worrying about it so I am seeing them and enjoying every minute. However this pandemic is far from over, on the Office for National Statistics website they said that deaths were increasing with 1,049 deaths involving Covid in the week ending the 17th September, highest since the week ending 12 March. This is so sad, every single one of these people is a loss not a number. I personally think although we have come a long way since last year this time, we do still need to be so careful.

My DGC were off school the moment their mother's COVID was confirmed. No if, no buts, just stay home. As it is they are ow positive but symptom free.

here in Cornwall all the schools are rife with covid, most of us have G C with covid

I agree with Alegrias1 I cannot take Noor Bari seriously. I want people to be encouraged to get vaccinated as much as the next person, but I fear 'gilding the lily' with some of the nonsense she says, could well have the opposite effect.

Her list is sourced from unreferenced studies which she tells us are of mixed sample size and some of which do not even apply to children. She is not the researcher.

One of her comments: The virus infected the immune cells that were supposed to eat it and kill it.

Scary lists of outcomes tweeted by random people with no credentials is not right, IMHO. You and I usually agree on things but this is bordering on scaremongering.
