The Elusive Third Primary Vaccine - not the Booster

poshpaws, my DH and my neighbours (in Scotland) were in and out in less than half an hour yesterday. All very slick. There doesn't seem to be a problem here with boosters, it is accessing Third Primaries, which is the problem.

Had 2 jabs, over 6 months ago. Tried to book the booster on NHS app but the places offered were too far away. Called 119, waited half an hour and was told it could not be booked at the local health centre where I had my first 2. Going to GP to book a flu jab with nurse so will ask then, IF I get an appointment. Really annoyed with it all, they say get a booster but don't say how. How have others got their booster?

I've had my letter, and am getting 3rd vaccine on the 11th. But I'm in Scotland, which is possibly a different kettle of fish to E & W.

Yes, I've had a third dose but what a performance trying to sort it. I first had the NHS letter saying in bold "this is not a booster" so I phoned my G.P surgery [normally brilliant] who said they didn't know anything about it and to ask my consultant! As I wasn't being seen until this coming Wednesday I'm afraid I took matters in to my own hands.
I drove to our local vaccination centre, without an appointment [computer said no when I tried to book online] and I showed my letter at the front desk and explained my frustration. Glory be, I was whisked off like a VIP and given the Pfizer there and then with instructions to get a booster later which apparently should be the Moderna meaning that I would have had the whole spread - 2 Astra Zeneca, 1 Pfizer, 1 Moderna thereby, apparently giving me the best chance of developing some kind of immunity. The whole thing is a shambles in my opinion and I feel really sorry for those perhaps not as able as I am to sort it out.

Sorry I'm quite ratty today. I blame the fact that after weeks of angst, I eventually managed to get my third PRIMARY vaccine yesterday.
I feel awful, but not as awful, as I would feel if I caught Covid, I would be dead!

I understand that posters are trying to help, but they just don't understand how problematic it has been.

Missedout, the point of the thread was to support those who are trying to get a third Primary, vaccine NOT the booster. The important information is being lost in the thread, because people have not read the title properly and are reporting they have successfully have had the booster.

It's a pity, as so many are struggling to get a third Primary dose and are becoming increasingly more and more anxious about it.

Yes. My daughter who is undergoing chemo, has had hers a month ago.

My son-in-law, who is immune suppressed following a kidney transplant, has had his 3rd Covid jab a few weeks ago, at his GP Surgery. His first two were at the major transplant hospital. I have hard of a number of others so, yes, people are receiving the 3rd jab.

As from tomorrow you can book online:
From Monday 8 November 2021 you'll be able to pre-book an appointment for a booster dose if you're eligible and it's been at least 152 days (5 months) since your 2nd dose.

The appointments you'll be offered will still be from 182 days (6 months) after your 2nd dose.

About booking your booster
You need to:

book 1 appointment for 1 booster dose
wait 4 weeks (28 days) before booking if you've had a positive COVID-19 test, starting from the date you had the test.

My husband and I had our booster vaccine over five weeks ago, we had the flu vaccine at the same time. My husband has cancer, so maybe we had the vaccinations because of this. However, our next door neighbour, who is in her late seventies, has had no notification at all . My husband looked up the walk in vaccine centre, no appointment necessary, and she had both vaccinations there .

I am on immunosuppressants and in Scotland. I got a 3rd vaccination weeks ago. Before the 6 months for the booster. I was sent an appointment in the post at my nearest vaccination centre. All done and dusted very quickly. Very pleased with the service.

I received a letter from my hospital asking me to get a third vaccine, then six months later a booster but they don't know which it will be. It can be given two months after the second dose. I've been told to contact my GP and either they will do it or send me to a vaccination centre. I feel there's going to be a bit of run around as left hand doesn't know what the right is up to.

Also the fact that he’s on steroids makes him eligible for the third vaccine.
If I’m correct, he is eligible for it for three different reasons
