Well, so that's then. Luckily there's not tens of thousands of daily infections and several hundred people a day dying. Oh, wait a minute.. ....

If we are going to wait for this virus to disappear completely we may have a very very long wait
Now I may lead a quiet life but I cannot think of anything I cannot do now that I couldn’t do back in 2019.

More people are dying from other conditions than are dying of Covid. Project fear has take over our lives. If we are double jabbed and had boosters and probably also a flu jab the effects are expected to be minimal. Take control of your own safety. I will make my own decisions about wearing masks and where I go, and I will live my life as I choose. We only have one life and I want to get the most out of it that I can. That won’t happen if I’m stuck indoors.

Which other conditions? Which single preventable condition is killing more people than COVID?

You don't need to be stuck indoors. You just need to think about other people's welfare.

I am glad the resrictions are ending because now we need to concentrate on the economy which is now in a dire strait. Let's get on with normal living and to those who don't feel safe - well hey YOU stay indoors because I am sick of rules, lockdown, masks and testing. Bring back normality! No not the new normal but prepandemic normal.

We can't go back to "pre-pandemic normal" until a highly transmissible virus, which makes some people very ill, has disappeared completely. It's wishful thinking to believe otherwise.

Or is she who she thinks she is anyway? Some recollections may vary.

MissAdventure Fri 11-Feb-22 19:07:03

If you're not you, are you her?

MissAdventure Fri 11-Feb-22 18:30:42

Prince Charles succumbing again is a timely reminder that it's not over yet.

Yes, and the TV News is very concerned because he was with The Queen two days ago - which seems to indicate that isolation is still necessary...?

Me too Casdon, I can't make it all out, but I haven't been on GN long enough to get an I depth picture. All I have gleaned is that GN is far bigger than one individual poster.

Casdon Fri 11-Feb-22 17:59:53

For the intellectually challenged (i.e.me) is this post code for Alegrias is now Farzanah? Also, where is Lemongrove - is she Discodancer1975? I’m getting confused!

I agree with Casdon about Alegrias and hope she wasn't driven off by people who disagreed with her, sometimes in an unpleasant way. Does anyone know her personally and could tell her she is missed?

... I second that.

I third it.

I was horrified at the treatment she got on a certain thread.

Oh well we shall have a couple of new verbs to add to the language. to Boris it = put oneself before everything and everyone regardless of the effects on the rest of the world. is that true or a boris? = to lie but to be able to change the lie according to whatever twist suits you first and fumble and pretend you never said something. Hard luck Boris we have films of your speech so you cannot hide it all the time

Farzanah Fri 11-Feb-22 17:13:17

That’s a very compassionate sentiment songstress.

Farzanah Fri 11-Feb-22 17:11:44

Viruses generally mutate into sub groups, don’t necessarily burn themselves out
I believe there are at least 3 sub groups of Omicron circulating in UK just now, the latest being Omicron BA.2 which is being monitored.

MissAdventure Fri 11-Feb-22 17:05:10

Chance would be a fine thing.
I have a good few years of work left yet.
I doubt I'll be given help to stay home.

Just because the government restrictions are ended doesn't mean we should all stop wearing masks, have large parties, gatherings, pack into pubs, football stadiums, clubs, discos etc. I'm going to continue to be careful, I know the virus is still out there and I don't want to get it so I will be making my own mind up about what is safe to do and what isn't. We should think for ourselves, that's all it boils down to.

Josieann Fri 11-Feb-22 16:45:38

Indeed Hetty58.

Hetty58 Fri 11-Feb-22 16:42:24

I really believe we don't actually know what will happen - just hope for the best - and that's all of us!

sluttygran Fri 11-Feb-22 16:41:12

It appears (fingers crossed) that the pandemic is burning itself out, which is what these things do - eventually.
On the other hand, many of us are vulnerable and infection levels still quite high, so don't take any notice of that fool Johnson, and take care of yourselves as best you can, and however you wish.
