Has anyone else had their period return after having covid?

Nellymag Sun 31-Jul-22 18:47:33

At age 57 and being 3years without periods, 3 weeks after having covid I'm now having a period every 3 weeks. Anyone else experiencing this??

Please run to the obgyn.
Bleeding after menopause has been established is a huge red neon sign that has to be checked

Yeah, I know, but it's not that. It's very definitely periods returning.

May I reiterate what you have been told. You need to get this checked out. Do not procrastinate.

Get it checked out, just to be sure.

Check this out, how do you know what it is?

This isn’t right. Contact your GP.

Nellymag as others have said it’s advisable that you consult your GP. If your periods ceased 3 years ago this is classed as post menopausal bleeding and not a period. Hopefully something easily dealt with but it’s important to seek medical advice.

Postmenopausal bleeding
Menopause is usually diagnosed in women over 45 who have not had a period for more than a year. Any bleeding from the vagina after this time needs to be checked by a GP

(I copied that from the NHS website. You’ll find more info there)

I hope you can soon see a gynaecologist.

Just because you are having vaginal bleeding after you have had COVID doesn't mean that there is any connection between the two.

When I had menopausal bleeding, it happened just after I changed my job. There was no connection.
