Kaimoana I'm sure you know this but the UK has a reciprocal social security agreement, which includes pensions, with New Zealand doesn't it. I don't know what you're in receipt of in NZ but any NZ benefits can be paid to you in the UK. If you would like to return to the UK, especially since it's highly likely your DS is, it's worth checking out.
